A while back, I decided to start a more ambitious project and scale down the Covet to an R/C-like size. After a long time of not much happening because I didn't really feel like scaling down thousands of node coordinates by hand, I discovered that Masa's N/B Editor had the functionality to scale node coordinates somewhat easily. The current result is a Covet that looks just like the normal one - except smaller (and a lot less stable).

While it may not look much like an R/C car yet, @TYLERTJ has very kindly decided to modify the Covet's model to do just that. Current progress on the model looks something like this: model1.jpg model2.jpg
I'm certainly no Gabester when it comes to jbeam, so don't expect anything incredible with this project. I don't have a ton of free time to work on it either, so we'll just wait and see how things turn out. Any feedback, ideas/suggestions and questions are welcome.

Thanks! Sadly a proper release is a long way off, but I might make a beta group like I did for my inflatable ball earlier. Maybe once I get the scaled-down Covet stable I'll start thinking about that.

I am working on texturing right now :)

These are actually the first things I've EVER UV-ed and textured, so they're not very good.

Thanks a lot for the positive feedback, everyone! I recorded this very quick testing video after I finished scaling the wheels. Figured I might as well upload it so you can get an idea of how it drives right now.

As you can see, it's rather unstable. I'm starting to work with beam values today to fix that.

Edit: A test video without the Unstable parts:

Haha, that's an interesting idea :p. It's probably not very easy to do right now, but I may think about it in the distant future. I would have never thought of something like that though :p.

Of course! But as I said, the beta group won't happen for a while, if it does happen.
Maybe, I might think about it in the future.

It seems like the detachable parts are causing most of the trouble I think, but RC cars only have one plastic body anyway ;)

You know, if it will be a one plastic body, than it won't make sence, because how I understood, the idea is make Covet small, but damaging as big one.

Well, at the moment I'm working on lightening it to a more realistic weight. Those videos are very very early tests, and don't really represent what it will most likely become. My plan is to make an R/C Covet that drives, crashes, and weighs something similar to an actual R/C car of the size, although I might have to compromise a little on the weight because of how small it is.
