RELEASED: http://www.beamng.com/threads/12993-Honda-Prelude-SN-ver-1-0 This is my own car I'll be working on And here's the complete high detailed version I did last year: https://www.behance.net/gallery/22371899/Honda-Prelude-1980 This is the progress on the game model so far My idea behind it is to make a real time game model out of it, along the lines of Forza or Gran Turismo, but with the added chassis and mechanical details to take full advantage of BeamNG. It'll feature the standard inline 4 1.6 EL engine with stock suspension, and a lowered version with the Watanabe rims and other engine choices, probably a Honda B18 or B16A for a realistic swap. Will keep the post updated with progress but we aware that this is a long-term project, I will focus more on detail (mesh accuracy, polygon distribution, scratch made jbeams) than speed.
The body shell mesh already looks great. Is that the base mesh that you apply smoothing to for renders?
It still needs some optimizing, but the mesh I'm using for the game is a simplified version of the high poly one. From there I'm reducing polygons and re-modeling what's needed. The high poly version doesn't have a lot of mechanical details, neither opening doors, so there's a lot of stuff to model too. This would be the high polygon mesh, with turbosmooth applied:
I'm really excited for this. The Nova is my favorite mod, so I can't wait to see what this one has to offer.
Best comment ever? hehe, well, yeah this one's FWD, that was Honda's concept of a sports coupe back then. It's still a fun thing to drive with rack and pinion power steering, independent suspension and a short wheelbase.
Im coming to Argentina and stealing that beautiful lude. This better make it in game or im going to cry!
Thanks, I appreciate the comments, specially with cats Some progress, underside suspension components and boring bits. Also reworked the engine bay a bit with all the suspension and steering components in place.
Dude your amazing, devs should take notice of this fella, could be the next prodigy to gabester. You definitely have talent in producing a very high quality product. Sniff sniff, good stuff m8. Learn Jbeam and youll be a god.
I tried, but I can't come up with any criticism. It looks great. OH, YES, I FOUND SOMETHING TO CRITICIZE! Because the car is meant to deform, some poly density is required all over the chassis, even areas that are flat. For example, right now the floor pan and the bottom of the rad support don't have enough polys. It will look really funky when it tries to deform these areas, as it can only kink where the vertices are.
