Seeing this is the suggestion board and I haven't seen this suggested anywhere else, I might as well. Prepare to read a lot, for this thing has inspired my inspirational brain gnomes to breaking capacity. I don't know how much this interferes with the developers' idea on how this game should work out, or if some of it has already been suggested (after reading the faq I found that quite a lot actually has), but I'm just going to post everything that came into my mind anyway. First of all; Singleplayer Gamemodes. Singleplayer gamemodes; essential in any game that isn't purpose built for online gaming. Now then, after having watched the two videos on the car deformation this thing will offer I came up with these gamemodes: - Test Course Now this is pretty obvious, it's just a big slate of test course with ramps and jumps and things to crash into and whatnot, you pick any car you like, drive it around any way you like, place whatever obstacles you want, etc, etc, etc; it's basically a massive sandbox, this is not a new suggestion but it is essential. - Track Racing Simple circuit racing on a purpose built racetrack, ranging from NASCAR (I'd love to see a big one in this game) to Formula One (Imagine what a 1998 Spa pileup would look like). - Dirt Track Racing Simple dirt track racing on a purpose built track; rallycross. - Destruction Derby This game would basically be kind of very perfect for this, whether it's classic figure 8 or a smash-em up, this game would love a destruction derby gamemode. - Time Attack Here you drive over public roads, with or without traffic, and you make it from one point to another in the shortest amount of time (because otherwise your car will blow up or something like that), this especially gets interesting when you add things like police and angry mobsters. This could also work in an apocalyptic setting where you must evade incoming meteors or stuff like that. And even if we don't add anything then racing along the coastline in a Civetta Bolide is still a pretty dangerous business. - Bank Job You've just robbed a bank and now the entire Beamtown police force wants to skin you alive. You best know your way around Beamtown. It would be very cool if you had different settings to do this in, I really want to go Dukes of Hazzard in this game while at the same time the getaway from the original (1974) Gone in Sixty Seconds would also rock my boat. - Car Bowling You drive your car into a set of cars that are set up like bowling pins and you need to see to it that they all fall over; simple. Second; AI. Now AI is interesting, and pretty essential if we want an awesome game. It can range from simply placing a car in the test course with constant full throttle to some pretty skilled racing car driver on a highly complicated track like Leguna Seca. I believe we all know how AI works so I don't think I need to go very deep into the workings of it, I'm just suggesting AI drivers would be awesome. Third and last; Multiplayer Gamemodes. Obviously, with multiplayer (which I am hereby also suggesting), come multiplayer gamemodes. You can pretty much have the racing singleplayer modes and the destruction derby mode in multiplayer, on top of these: - Car Soccer Two goals, one oversized ball and two teams of guys trying to smash the ball in the goal of the other team, simples. - Free Roam You pick a car, and you roam through beamtown, easy. - Moonshine Runners Two teams, Cops and Runners, the runners need to smuggle moonshine from one side of the map to the other, and the cops need to stop them from doing so. A timelimit for the runners and a points limit for the cops decide who wins. Now of course, I'm probably missing out a lot of awesome gamemodes, and all of this is probably not exactly very feasible with today's hardware, but still I wanted to suggest this. If anyone has any other gamemode that I forgot please contribute, and I hope whoever read this enjoyed reading it. Thank you for your time.
All great sugestions but i think they should make a Truck convoy room in multiplayer mode i say this becouse in ror there were lots of "truck companyes" and i'm pretty sure that it will get BeamNG lots of players
I would add in multiplayer a typical race, destruction derby and maybe a tag-game. Everybody starts with 1000 points and one with "something" and the guy who has this is loosing his points, but if someone will touch him, then that person takes "this" and so on. The winner is the one, who will lose all his points first
Also if you wreck your car you lose 100 points regardless! I also thought of this just then: - Sudden Recess You've got two teams who each have an AI reinforced schoolbus, and one school. Each team must protect their schoolbus as it drives towards (and in to, making it explode) the school while the other team tries to destroy the bus. If the bus is destroyed it respawns and they have to try over. The winner is the one who first blows up the school.
I'm currently working on a test track with a 500m long runway, different types of obstacles that will test the suspension to breaking point, steep slopes, rock crawling and objects to smash you're car into. I will make a thread on Sunday with some pictures and future plans. Jacob G
One more idea. How about creating something like the "Suicide Race" in Test Drive: Eve of Destruction? It was a really cool idea, and would look great in BeamNG. Basically, it's similar to a normal race (usually on an oval track). The twist is that half of the people are racing in the opposite direction. You can either charge at full speed and risk destroying your car, or slow down to ensure your car's safety but risk losing the race. In every race, there were always huge pileups and brutal head-on crashes. It would be really fun to see this in the final game!
I'm only scared how usual quadcore processor will hold for ex. 3 or 4 cars crashing in the same time? i'm afraid that my i5 3570K will be unhappy
Yeah, same thing. I own a i7 2600k and i don't now if it will take that without lag :/ But those are great ideas! looking foward to this.
Pshh, if this was multi player it would need to be lowered in some way, even my dell xps 8100 ( nice by the way) could handle 5-6 cars but the network speed would turn that to crap.
This idea is Gold!! It would be so awesome to do a dukes of hazzard with cops on your a$$. Even with an i7-3520M I am a little worried about the performance but I think that if the physics engine is tuned well that it should be ok. Props to the idea, it sounds like you did your homework and put a lot of effort into it!
Haha yeah, thanks, I've been walking around with a racing game in my head since forever and I've had plenty of time to fantasize about it. "Gearboxz", I like to refer to it. I even have concept 'art' for it: http://i.imgur.com/zqAzJ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/vr2d1.jpg http://i.imgur.com/j8h9B.jpg http://i.imgur.com/qnslD.jpg
Will be there a Multiplayer planned? I worried, because of the sync from the damage of all cars in Multiplayer and so on. It is even possible, to realize it? Greets Spjs9
Multiplayer would likely have serverside physics. This way there's no issue of syncing damage or movement, there's just a small amount of input lag.
