Could not connect to hostname - solution

Do we have to run the updater every once in a while to see if there is an update? Or is there a thread to announce such updates?

 

They have pretty much updated something every day since the release, best thing to do is run it before you play if you have not run it in the last day. Then view the 'changelog' to see what they adjusted

 

The error that I'm getting is almost exactly the same as this one, except it says couldn't connect to server instead of couldn't connect to hostname. I tried this update regardless but it did no good. Is there a solution for mine too?

 

I don't even know were to find the updater so i just installed this one and waiting for update to finish, will the game work fine then?

 

I'm sorry but, how exactly do I go about doing that? I'm not even sure what a proxy server is

Nevermind, I figured out where the settings for that are but I never had a proxy server on. I can't think of anything else to do :/

Im 100% sure this isnt not a problem with the proxy server i use.
Ive checked the proxy server's access logs... it never sees a request from the updater.

 

I got it solved, turns out all I needed was to reboot my computer. Crisis averted

 

Okay, so I tried that link. I extracted it (I think) into my BeamNG folder. It wasn't exactly what was described (BeamNG-DRIVE-0.3) it was actually BeamNG.drive-0.3. When I extract it into the recommended folder it just makes a new folder with the updater in it, and it still gives me the same message. When I extract it into the folder I described above, the update is there, but it's in a text format. Open Office, to be exact. So I have no solution yet. :/

 

Hahahaha don't worry the problem from the beginning was that i had my updater.exe folder in my WinRar documents xD silly me im so sorry to have wasted your time but thanks for the help anyway hope its usefull for others

 

Wait, what? Sorry, I don't understand. I don't think installing this game should be such a cryptic and frustrating task.... Is there anyway the downloader itself can be updated? I'm pretty much stuck right now.

 

My installer is stuck too. Please put the attachment back up...

 

EDIT: Just realized I posted to a different topic than I intended. My apologizes.

 

My Update.exe does not work, and just gives up after finding "Hash different" and could not connect to server.

I have re-installed the game multiple times from the link provided in my email. I tried using update.exe for hours trying different solutions. These included turning off AV and FW, Running as Administrator and making sure i did not have an active proxy.

The update.exe is obviously still not fully fixed, unless you can give me a download of the game that says otherwise.

I have had to play with the "Temp_Fix" file provided on the forums to play the game as the update.exe does not download the key files for the game to run, but it is great! although I would actually like to play it up to date as i should for the $15 that i paid.
