Problems with changing the controls

I've tried changing the P, alt up, alt down, alt left and alt right commands but they didn't work. I have consulted the wiki for it beforehand.

After I changed them, only the normal movement keys worked fine. The rest were a bit bugged.

Can somebody pls help?

Can you upload your inputmap so we can at least see what the problem is?

 

I reset the input map by using update.exe

It was basically unplayable.

My question is how you can change

P to Spacebar
Alt up, down, left, right to just w, s, a, d without the alt.

I don't want the accelerator and steering moved to WASD. I want to change the handbreak to spacebar and the time modifiers ( slow down time, etc) moved to WASD instead of alt+arrows.
