Hey BeamNG Nation! Say hello to my first addon/mod yet!! Valley Roads and Mountains (imported from here) Installation: Extract into BeamNG levels folder (C:\Users\YourNameHere\AppData\Local\BeamNG\Levels\ I tried best to depict the roads near where I live with cutting-through-the-forest type roads. The roads around here are bumpy, curvy and dynamic which equates to not being able to go blisteringly fast. Good stable speeds are around 25-45 MPH (imported from here) Creating maps in BeamNG through its internal editors is simple BUT time consuming, this project took me about 16 or 17 hours. I spent the longest time smoothing out the terrain (to the best of my ability with a mouse). I started with a 2048x2048 blank, flat terrain. Basically Everything , By Me I used in game resources (of course) Mods? I'm not sure how but if you want to, just give me credit plz So have fun! Constructive help/bashing allowed and asked for !! UPDATE 10/27/13: FIXED the steep slopes issue(s) Hopefully Fixed the texture issues, I changed my custom texture to a default one. ADDED: A 3 mile long highway (not a freeway or interstate). I was able to cruise along the road at about 75 MPH in the Pickup without major failing Again please tell me about bugs For installation if you have Version 1, you should be able to just merge the two folders, UNEXTRACT FIRST! What's Next? I plan to add houses next and maybe some buildings. Offroad trails coming! Expect updates next week! 11/3/2013 Close to release I recently added: About a 4 mile addition to the original highway system Tried to add an off/on ramp with a bridge, turned out bumpy but all right One off road trail for now Two MASSIVE Valleys (questionably realistic ) that allow for some Major speeds (imported from here) I estimate about 12-15 miles of roads so you won't be bored with it too soon There are bumpy roads and imperfections because I am human and my mouse kind of sucks. Be weary of floating trees, that's a bug I couldn't seem to get to... Again, let me know of bugs so I can fix them! Photos courtesy of benlucky13 Thanks for supporting Okay, so 11/17/13. I'm going to call this a release because I have gone through this with a fine toothed comb (more than once) seeking out potential bug causing problems. I went through all of the material.cs files and found that still, some items were wanting to be grabbed from the dry_rock_island folder. Every instance where it said that has been replaced so that ALL materials should, should grab from the Valley Roads and Mountains art folder. I know there are a few trees floating, I'll fix those eventually... Anyway, a couple of things added, a bit more forest, a ton of smoothing out (and in case you haven't seen the last release) a single off road trail for now... Thanks for dealing with the bugs everyone! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12/22/13 UPDATED Added a new dirt road and a mountain pass! ------------------ 7/31/14 No further updates beyond today (unless I have bugs to fix) A few objects added Normalized the terrain Flattened out roads Added an airport-ish type thing...you'll find it Pictures: (imported from here) (imported from here) Thanks for all the support! Make sure you delete any old version of the map before placing this one in it please
Re: New England Country Side (An Open Road type of map) for some reason the texture beneath the grass near the roads is not loading for me. other than that, a very enjoyable map to drive on. plenty of winding roads and trees to crash into if i could suggest a few things: certain spots on or near hills the road follows the slop unrealistically, creating large bumps or sloped sections that just look odd. try flattening those more and it would look better and be easier to drive on. the only other thing i would suggest is get rid of some of the grass growing through the road. the spot next to the rear wheel is acceptable, but up ahead in the middle of the road looks a bit off. really appreciate the effort you put into this, though! would enjoy seeing more of these. hopefully you can upgrade to a microwave soon
Re: New England Country Side (An Open Road type of map) LOL, microwave. I think I know what the texture issue is (I created my own texture so it's not default) I can work on the slope issues soon hopefully. Thanks for the appreciation!
Re: New England Country Side (An Open Road type of map) Actually, I think you should go to the textures panel, and if the warning texture is still there, delete it!
Re: New England Country Side (An Open Road type of map) Updates coming this weekend, I've been busy and my editing computer is down
Re: New England Country Side (An Open Road | UPDATED 10/26! | UPDATED see first post! Tell me of any errors!
Re: New England Country Side (An Open Road | UPDATED 10/26! | er, well the texture bugs are gone! everything looks good other than a few floating trees and gas stations well... that, and the constant D3DERR_DEVICELOST error i keep getting after anywhere between 10 seconds and 5 minutes of driving around :/ the wiki page doesn't seem to be much of a help http://wiki.beamng.com/Errors/-2005530520 seems to randomly turn off and on for certain user made maps on me.
Re: New England Country Side (An Open Road | UPDATED 10/26! | I've never heard of that problem - - - Updated - - - What part in the map does the crash happen?
Re: New England Country Side (An Open Road | UPDATED 10/26! | it happens regardless of where i go on the map, and at seemingly random intervals. pausing physics and exploring the map with a free camera still crashes. edit: it would appear an extremely low resolution tends to delay the crash by several minutes, usually. edit again: completely removing the trees has stopped this from happening completely, not sure why i thought to do that or why it works but it does. must be something with larger maps with a lot of trees that my computer (or beamng itself?) doesn't like, as "woods point" is the only other map i have that seems to give me this error. but i digress; at least i can drive on it now
MAP RELEASED! Still very curious, I think I'll deforest it some because I get lag (of course I do my PC is kind of Sh¡t) UPDATE, Map Release 1! See first post
Re: New England Country Side (An Open Road | UPDATED 10/26! | If you push F11 and fly around in the editor for a while it seems to delay it from happening, and it is definitely something to do with the forest as removing it also fixes it on my map.
Re: New England Country Side (An Open Road) Released 11/3!!! not sure what you did differently, but the crash seems to have gone away in this most recent version thought you might appreciate some more flattering pictures of your map than the one with the floating trees:
Re: New England Country Side (An Open Road) Released 11/3!!! Those are excellent, Thanks! Is there a key for screenies to be taken in game?
Re: New England Country Side (An Open Road) Released 11/3!!! er, not that i'm aware of. evga precision x (overclocking utility for evga graphics cards) comes with one that i have that set to the - key , but i believe fraps lets you assign a key to take a screenshot as well.
Re: New England Country Side (An Open Road) Released 11/3!!! Hey, the Map looks great! But I am getting th D3DERR_DEVICELOST error Errors/-2005530520 all the Time within 5-10 seconds after starting the map. I Downloaded V3, Trying V2 and 1 now One time the Error said " Out of Memory " .. I Don't think that was the real reason, my PC Specs are quiet good EDIT: Nope, V2 doesn't work either for me. This Time it said under D3DERR_DEVICELOST : Failed to create VB . Looks like it doesn't know whats the reason for the Crash, as the failures are very random in my Case. ( i7 4770k ; Nvidia GF 760GTX ; 8Gig Ram )
Re: New England Country Side (An Open Road) Released 11/3!!! I don't have any clue what might fix this. Sorry guys. I think I'll go to maybe another road texture and even more deforestation
Re: New England Country Side (An Open Road) Released 11/3!!! If I knew anything about making maps, mine would resemble this. Hopefully it will work for me!
Re: New England Country Side (An Open Road) Released 11/3!!! No Problem, it's hard to find a problem, if it isn't happening on your PC If i am one of 100 where there are problems, it might not be your "fault" ( in " because it is not your fault anyways, just a bad mood of the game ). All I can say is, that this map is the only map with this Problem for me . If you need any help , for example when you get an Idea und want to try it out, PM me I'm gonna Test it for you if you'd like.
Re: New England Country Side (An Open Road) Released 11/3!!! it happens for me too. but only with custom cars. I mean other than original cars. Same graphics card btw
