Hey guys, While waiting for the next big race update, I started another custom level, Tundra Rush. This level is original (not ported) and was created with 3d Max and WM. It is a high speed road circuit in a Tundra setting. The track is over 11km long and the level is massive. Performance is important, if it doesn't run good, its useless, so this was kept in mind during development. Release Date: When Race Update for BeamNG is released. Features: - terrain created entirely with WM and Max - custom weed/flowermodels with lods - over 11kms of high speed adrenaline inducing tarmac with lots of drifting - custom HD sky cylinder - very good performance - original level design (not ported from some other game) - all guardrails and poles have full collision Visuals: (imported from here) (imported from here) (imported from here) (imported from here) (imported from here) (imported from here)
wat?! i dont even... This looks amazing! May i ask how much time you had to invest into this? Cant wait for it!
Thanks ultranew_b! Two epic maps in the works, I'm sure everybody's drooling for a release! Take your time, the wait is all worth it.
Forgot to mention the track goes 2 ways, u can go forwards or backwards, all signs are bi-directional. I ran a timer while doing a run, my best lap time was 8 minutes with 3 car wrecks. Can't wait to compare our times when it's released!! Made up a new checkpoint model : (imported from here)
Only thing that hurts me is that I'm gonna take a wild guess you made the entire environment road and all as a mesh.. Won't everything have a concrete like surface in game?
Yep, but this level is designed for the Race Mode. Which involves staying on the pavement as much as possible!! lol If anyone knows a way to assign diff particles to non-terrain objects, i'm all ears !
Attempting to race the Bolide FT-40 around the track !! Keyword is attempting, this thing is a beast ! (imported from here)
Still puttering around with this in my sparetime, hopefully the update will be soon !! Working on a start area atm! (imported from here)
Are those asphalt patches just textures or are they actually modeled as bumps and such similar to the stock BeamNG maps?
While waiting for the Race Update, i've added a timer created by http://www.beamng.com/members/49958-mike22, which was featured in his fantastic level, Corkscrew Mountain. He has given me permission to use it, thanks Mike !! The car, an Audi R18, is something i've been tinkering with for awhile now, it is for personal use only atm. Anxiously awaiting the update! Looks amazing. But following the lighting on the ground I think you need to go for a slightly darker maybe cloudier sky. Would be neat to not be dark but like 7-8pm with some lights just coming on. Would look pretty neat! Just a suggestion Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
