Hey guys! I'm usually running around 20-30fps (I should be getting much more than that) constant with maxed graphic settings (Lowering them has no effect on my FPS) and my CPU usage stays around 7% to 12% while playing BeamNG, but never over that and it should definitely be running better.

So 20-30 is while windowed. That goes up to 45-50 when fullscreen (In 1080p. Still waiting for that Asus 4k to come), but there will be a massive lag spike any time I damage any part of the vehicle.

I have an i7 4820k on an Asus X79 Deluxe (Fairly new system. Haven't messed with overclocking yet) and cooled by a Noctua NH-D14. My GPU is an Asus GTX 760 (To be replaced with 2 SLI 780ti or a Titan Z if they reduce the price I'll be using 4k after next week.) 8gb of Crucial (Not sure the specs on this. Decent highish end RAM. Gonna switch that up to 16gb or possibly 32gb Kingston HyperX. Also have a Samsung EVO 250gb SSD.

I am getting the same performance I had on my old Asus G74sx (Laptop basically with an i7 2630qm and a GTX 560m) before I sold it.

    How can I fix this?

how is your performance in other games?

did you install your graphics drivers?

what sort of temperatures do you hit?

You say you spike when you damage the vehicle? That should happen on the first crash only and is the game caching the damaged material textures from storage into RAM, once they are done then there should be no issues on subsequent collisions (until you change vehicle or map)

Check that your computer isn't on power-saving mode.

Put it on High Performance to fix that. I would tell you how to do it in Control Panel, but I just use Windows Key + X to open up Mobility Center and change it there.

My performance is always as it should be! Don't have poor performance In anything. Can max out Crysis 2 at >60fps, even. No power saving mode is set; I've already checked that, though my processor wouldn't stick around 10% in only this one application if that was the issue. My temps are always low due to my cooler. CPU stays around 37c under full load and my GPU heats up to 50c after prolonged gaming (Have a large CM Strom Stryker full tower so has wonderful airflow.)

Problem is is as stated in the post; this game is utilizing only 10% of my CPU and therefor is creating this bottleneck that shouldn't be there.

Graphics drivers are the most recent update, but the GPU is being utilized as it should (around 80% and no bottleneck from graphics) so I'm sure the issue is with the CPU utilization.

You say you're getting 45-50 fps in fullscreen, but in what map, is it Dry Rock Island?

Oh, sorry. It doesn't vary much between maps (5-10 fps change in poorly optimized mod maps and the blank test map). But that framerate was from GridMap. Something my system is more than enough to handle. :l

If you have no fps change between maps, high and low settings, i'd say it's the cpu. Would you mind writing how much it scores in the Winrar benchmark? Just to see if it acts normally.

The symptoms are certainly matching those of CPU bottleneck. But that CPU should not be bottlenecking at all.

As you can see it's averaging around 70% CPU usage. Not sure if that's normal. Don't know how the Winrar benchmark is supposed to look. (As you can see it took a brief dive into 1% cpu usage there very briefly). I guess I get 7,054 which I assume is very good knowing what my processor is.

Have you got a screenshot of it running BeamNG as well?

    Capture.jpg

As you can see <15% CPU usage

So suddenly I started to get 15-30% CPU usage and it's actually running pretty nicely. Steady 60fps without any drops during large physics events like crashing. Restarted and that promptly went back to bad performance :l

I mean look at this! 7% usage?

Go fullscreen. Apparently fullscreen applications are allowed more resources on Windows. Therefore you may be able to use more than 7%.

The game doesnt like 2011 socket CPU's from what i've heard. A guy with a 4930k is having problems too.

Yeah performance does increase a bit from fullscreen, but it's still not too much. Still has stuttering and all

How is that processor? I've been thinking about upgrading to the 4930k for PS and all my editing softwares. Looks pretty freaking awesome

Update here: Apparently one of the latest patches fixed whatever was causing my performance issues. My CPU usage now hovers around 30% in this game and I'm averaging 100-150FPS depending on the map and car!

There haven't been any true updates, but I'm glad to hear that something got itself sorted out.

everything on max settings with a 760 and 100-150 fps? yeah sure. I have a better card and I average 60 fps in dry rock island

A few times there has been an issue with chrome.exe remaining open and using resources from the graphics card on my system, open taskmanager and see if its open (may have to elevate to admin rights) if it is kill it and see if the performance increases..

(I have not read anything prior to this)
Otherwise it could be one core of the CPU maxing causing the stuttering,

He did say depending on the map and car. Might be talking the covet and gridmap.
