I apologize if this has been mentioned in another thread, I didn't see it. What if you were able to add bombs and explosive objects in the game via the editor? with options to be able to increase/decrease damage, size, ect. Not only would they be fun to explode cars with but if the could be user triggered, timed, or motion activated, with a bound key? they would make amazing stunts. Imagine going off a giant ramp in your truck while a giant fireball explodes right behind you! And what if you could place them firmly on your vehicle and not just the ground, car bomb anyone? Beamng opens a great opportunity for something like this, most other games send your car flying through the air like a toy which in most cases is not realistic, where as in beamng you could blow your front end off with the beautiful view of shrapnel going everywhere!
Several, actually. Short answer is: most likely not. The devs are focused on more pressing matters, such as optimization, slidenodes, and even the remote possibility of multiplayer. Moreover, the game is being more tailored to the general motorsports crowd. Explosions, aside perhaps from aesthetic pyrotechnics, are most likely not going to be included in the base game or community mods (unless modders can modify the source code to make explosions physical). Anything not within the canon of demo derbies, Gymkhana, lighthearted car chases, or any one of the many types of racing, will probably not happen or happen soon.
First of all way too intense for a computer, second of all this has already been asked a million times. Advanced search. And that would take away from the realism, cool mod idea.
Not really. Well, depends on how you do it. If you attempted to simulate the force field of a shockwave using nothing more than a legion of high-speed, low-weight nodes, then yes. Especially if you attempt to do so with any high degree of fidelity. If you used a more direct, code-based method to add force to nodes in range away from the point of an explosion, then probably less so.
Not going to lie, I like explosions. However, they aren't in the direct scope of beamng right now so I doubt we will see them anytime soon.
Yes. Ive been saying this all along. Applying force via code to all nodes in a range is really feasible. Razer and I are harbingers of a new feature. beware.
I think it actually is in direct scope of beamngs goals, they are working towards a game that adds a fun new twist to racing games, destruction! demo derbies, police chases, cool stunts, the whole purpose of the engine is to add new destructive physics to games, if explosions aren't apart of that, I don't know what is... Im not saying that they have to be a huge part of the game, just something you can add if you want a little extra bang.
ummm, no, they are working towards a game that has realistic soft-body physics, why does everyone always see it as a car crashing simulator. THATS NOT THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO.
Also, it's not always gonna be fun. I'm sure they'll be lots of noobs complaining about stuff breaking too easily (IE the car not being perfectly fine after ramming a police car at 60mph) when it is complete. This game will probably be both amazing and infuriating because cop chases will be so much more realistic than other games, damage wise.
Sorry for the bump. with the statement about cargo missions, I feel that bombs and explosions would be possible, if the cargo in the vehicles were explosive (eg, TNT, nitroglycerin, etc). These would possibly explode under conditions like, crashing, too hard accelerating and sabotage. There could also be dangerous materials like uranium that could melt the floor of toppled over.
