I used search and didn't found nothing, and i saw the streaming of the last days.
After all smashing etc.. i haven't seen a totaled engine, will it be implemented?

I think most because they become hard to drive, but when the pick up hits hard on the cube the car still works.

You hear the covet rev but not move a few times. That's the broke engine.

Basically the engine act like if it's broken but the sound keep going?

The engine is broken, but it still works, just doesn't send power to the wheels- that's the "damage", you can make the radiator steam at that point and give it some clanking to make it actually look+sound like its broken.

Some of the times I think the engines would stop running alltogether. So I assume they have several different ways for the engine to break... Like they could have it set up that if a certain beam breaks, the radiator fails which would cause the engine to overheat after a while and make steam come out, another makes the engine stall, and the one where it revs freely could either be a transmission failure or a driveshaft/halfshaft breaking(when one halfshaft breaks in real life the diff sends all power to the broken driveshaft, which means no power gets sent to the wheel that isn't broken, or a broken driveshaft well... You'd simply have no drive at all. Both would cause the engine to rev freely). Perhaps there are other options in-game to break the engines?

Or it's just a bug they still gotta fix, who knows... But they did say somewhere the engines could already stall from beams breaking I think.

I think it should be optional though.
I thought it was pretty usefull that you could still move a little in RoR, if I crashed into a wall, I drove backwards a little, then respawned so my car wouldn't get stuck in an object.

But yeah, I think this is a good idea, its pretty unrealistic that the engine keeps working after you've hit something head on with 60mph. I doubt it that an engine can still work after it's completly deformed.

Right now what happens is that the driveshaft breaks, so the car can't move anymore. There's not really engine damage yet as we'd rather do it properly (radiator damage, overheating, etc.) than just have a simplistic "engine kill."

That sounds very good, any progress on that, it is now 2 years later and i just bought the game, so i would like to know if this is currently being worked on, i wanted to support a real simulator game on steam, tried to damage the engine but no matter what i did it kept on going.

Glad to hear this, are there plans for engine death through over revving / holding on the rev limiter for a long time?
