BVX VolcislandDescription: Volcisland is a level on a (wait for it!) volcanic island. The heart of the map lies smack dab in the middle where a dormant mound of doom waits to rearrange the face of the island. Volcisland features a variety of tracks from the smooth, high speed road to rocky and eroded crawling trails. Track Info: One smooth, paved road that encircles the volcano. One semi-paved road. Two or three dirt roads suitable for rally cars and trucks. One dirt path that rides the crest of a 50' ledge; ready to eat your meanest offroading trucks. And last but certainly not least: Three crawler trails. Also featuring: whatever you make into a trail! *See screens below... Also split the winding dirt road with the mud patches up... now you'll know where the mud is. Did some unnoticeable work to the lake.. Thinned out a few more forest areas. Plenty of "testing" confirms that progress is being made. 8.13.14: Technically Thursday Beta 1 released. Added another sand road to the front of the map. I had yet to smooth it out and work on it, but if I didn't upload it tonight I would've have uploaded til tomorrow. Also added a muddy creek. More ground cover work. Thinned out a few forests. Depth map work. Misc things... 8.12.14: Added another crawler trail last night because I'm a liar. Did more work with ground cover, some deforestation, and terrain work. I wanted to have Beta 1 out Monday, but I never got to my PC until late and did that other stuff instead. Anyhow, Beta 1 will be out tomorrow... or so I'll tell ya. 8.10.14: Beta phase Haven't posted in a few, but work has been done. Not sure if any more paths will be created... I kind of it like as is. You can tell me when the beta is released. Lately I've been working on ground cover and purtification. The forest was sloppily created and it's slowly getting thinned. Placing rocks, grass, that kind of jazz. Added a gas station and some vacation houses. Reworked a bit here and there... now for some insufficient pictures! ... ... ----------------------------- Progress from beginning until alpha. 7.29.14 Overview: The Peak (End of a rock crawler trail) I've only really worked on the right front of the map so far. 7.30.14 Looped around the map and got a lot done today. Almost ready to plant some SHRUBBERY! Top Down: And I realize that looks very messy and ugly. I'm just now laying down decal roads finalizing the terrain. I hope to have a beta up by Saturday but I won't promise anything. Because I'm not doing any more work until tomorrow (and haven't today) I'll post what I ended up with yesterday. In top down format of course! 8.01-03.14 I guess I'll post for the 3rd - did the work before work (yesterday as of 20min ago)... The NW corner is now smoothed/nicer curve. Dirt decal roads are rally *car* ready. Implemented a depth map. Smoothed out and cleaned up a lot of the tracks around the volcano. Some stuff I've done in the last few days that I've forgotten about. Added a small island because... Here's another top down. Until there's some vegetation I don't feel like a screen will do much justice. 8.04.14: The NE corner is getting a face lift including a paved road in place of the small dirt trail (below the lake). which squiggles and loops back around to the main road. It partially replaces the outside dirt road. As well as a short, muddy trail. Added some trees. Finishing work on the NE corner. This is a brilliant map, currently racing the DSC Scarab round the dirt tracks and over the knarly rocks without any fail. No lag with me either. Thanks.
Thanks! Good to hear I've been working on it for the last 3hr. Time for a break. I'll update OP with some changes now and later. ... I have yet to actually use the Scarab on here.... and it's the best all around off-roader. EDIT: 8.23.14 - Level is temporarily on hold. 9.1.14 - I've loaded it up a few times and made a few changes. Mainly some smoothing. Progress will probably be slow... Post if you have any suggestions.
