Smoothing Groups, how to fix them, for everyone.

    I don't know how to fix them.. I just need help to fix the smoothing groups on my bolide so I can mod the mesh and fix my mod. I have a spoiler and it is fully Jbeamed and in-game. However, I need to take it off the mesh I have because it is being destructive in-game and I need to put the spoiler on a clean mesh, please help me accomplish my goals.

    I even do an edge split of 60, I just don't understand how to do this successfully

    You must select the parts individually. You can't apply that modifier to more than one object, so selecting the entire model will either do nothing or apply the edge split to the last object you selected.

    You can copy it to the to all other selected parts, though. Once you have the edge split on at least one part select everything else press CTRL+L and select modifiers to copy to them.

    Pshh press ctrl L then click modifiers once you have one thing set with the edge split, thank me later. :)

    also when exporting make sure the export modifiers box is checked

    You could always wait for multi-dae support in the next update, that way you won't need to edit the original dae and ruin the smoothing. :)

    But really, multi model support will re-open the world of mods for the community, but that will probably mean a thousand Rim Shops everywhere.

    Oh well.

    Thank you everybody I will get to doing that now, I hope this helps others that are confused.
    FIXED!

    thanks to the users saying ctrl+l and select modifiers this took 30 seconds!
    +Modifiers section check on export

    Yes, because that's completely Gabes fault... Not the fault of people that can't be bothered to find out how to fix the smoothing groups before releasing their mods... Uhu... Seems legit... :p

    Edge split still doesn't restore "smoothing groups" It's honestly a huge annoyance to my OCD but it's Blender's fault not importing them. Edge split applies different smoothing than what was originally on the model. I hope this gets fixed eventually.

    It's not a Blender fault, it's a feature that is just not present in Blender and is done with EdgeSplit instead. Nothing to fix, it's something to add eventually.
