after reading the explanation from @meywue on the exhaust nodes, could we have dual pipes coming out the back on the D-series?

or would it be possible to code in the ability for multiple exhaust nodes?

It's already possible, exhaust nodes work in chains, smoke particles follow said chain. You can have forks on the path for dual exhaust.

chains yes but having two exhaust nodes, no so our monster won't be able to have flames and exhaust stuff coming out from both sides

Exhaust nodes can be way more than just 2, you need to connect (with exhaust beams) your exhaust tips to the engine in a chain.

A perfect example of a dual exhaust tree currently in game:

but it only has one node though, which is at the turbo.

It uses the nodes at the tip of each exhaust stack for particle emission though. (which can be moved and adjusted) :D

All the nodes from engine to exhaust tips (the yellow outline) are exhaust nodes.

He's been telling exactly what I did. I think he meant you can't simply have two nodes at the exhaust tips, but rather have to create a junction to the engine, a path for particles to move from engine to outlet.

One single exhaust output node from the engine - several exhaust beams between that node and the output at the end of the exhaust.

It's a screenshot from the wiki.

It's likely just aptly colored exhaust beams with mesh partial visibility, for the purpose of the informative screenshot.
