So earlier I installed the ETS2 multiplayer mod (http://ets2mp.com/) and I played it for a couple hours. I love it. It's like single player mode except instead of AI traffic it's other players in their trucks. (I don't think employees do anything though.) Screenies: A couple roadblocks in the other lane I saw: (imported from here) (imported from here) This guy pulled out and went across the lanes and I was going much faster which is why I had to turn: (imported from here) After catching up he pulled over and actually apologized through the chat. Very nice. (imported from here)
This is amazing, we should have a Euro truck group or something. Do you just put it in your mods folder and select it in your profile like most mods?
you can download it from the site, but you need to have the steam version to access multiplayer, because you will log in through your steam account. from there you can access your profile and you are good to go. I was playing it awhile the other nite, a lot of fun, just have to watch out for the idiots like anywhere else, lol.
It's a .exe installer. You just have to tell it where the ETS2 folder is. (It creates a ETS2 multiplayer icon on the desktop so the normal game mode is still separate.) As for Steam, I bought the game on Amazon after it came out because it was cheaper there but I was able to use my Amazon code to activate it on Steam. And, yeah. Shortly after I started playing I tried to overtake someone. They managed to flip my truck onto it's side.
I really want to buy this game now, I watched some youtube videos of it and I honestly thought It was a guy driving a truck in real life. (cab view) I would have already brought it but my Toyota HiLux just had a full under body rebuild and I'm still paying that off.
I've only been rammed two or three times, got stuck behind one road block, and got stuck behind a convoy that had gotten into an accident. All in all, not a bad experience so far, especially for such an early alpha.
Is it just a mass server? Or is there multiple servers? Also, is there much lag when near other players? Is there correct collisions?
So far, just one server, in Europe. Not lag, per se, your video card will of course have to render move vehicles as it would with AI traffic. Players with high pings can seem to skip around. As good as they are in single player.
What about the speed limiter? Can you install mods to remove it? Is weather synced with other players?
afaik the weather isn't synced, at least it wasn't the last time i played. The time is synced though.
They just did an update fixing some bugs, make sure you redownload and install so it'll work. Also watch out for the idiots that like to plow through anything in their way, I was about to pull into a depot to get a load, and some a-hole slams into my truck, pretty much totaling it... brand new Volvo Globetrotter, 84K in damage...
Just load a recent autosave when/if that happens. I thought towns and cities were supposed to not have collision but one town I was in had collision on.
Excellent! Now I can try this. I've pretty much driven all over Europe no stop to keep with delivering on time. I hope the trucks won't behave strangely.
We should all meet up and do random stuff, after we all get the game that is. I might get it today, seeing as all of you guys like it so much.
So, those of you that have the game, do you want to have a sort of meetup and do a BeamNG convoy? EDIT: Just opened up the game and it won't connect to their server. The only post on their forums I found about this problem is from this morning and a reply says the server is full.. Anyone else have this issue?
