So I've got a bunch of older maps that I repacked to work with newer versions. (Yes I know you have to get permission from the authors to re upload.) I was wondering, Is it possible to reupload (and of course credit each author) as some might not frequent the forums anymore? I just thought i'd make it easier for ones that, want to use the older maps on the newer versions Thanks.
I think it's a good practice in general. Even BeamNG staff members have repacked/tweaked other users' mods from time to time (case in point). Are you talking about putting them in the MODS repository or on the forum itself? I've just been uploading them as attachments to the original thread for the mod. I don't bother asking for permission if I'm just fixing stuff. If you want to start seeing about getting stuff into the repository too either Nadeox1 or Dummiesman could potentially be able to help with that. (eg help with getting correct attribution) I personally uploaded an older version of Gridmap to the MODS repo for example... it wouldn't be appropriate for it to have "torsion" as the author, because I'm not the author! A member of the dev/moderation team got it fixed up so that it's 'Author' value is the correct forum member (LJFHutch). They can also merge threads and repoint the MODS repository "Discussion" thread link to a different thread when necessary.
it wouldn't matter to me repository or forum thread, as long as its re uploaded with the right credits to the original author.
