Spooky music on East Coast USA.

I was doing a scenario where I had to stop the ai, he drowned in a river so I went to explore a bit. I came across this part of the map where you hear rain, thunder, some background music and a crow. It is limited to a small spot of the map, anyone know why this is here? Does anyone else have this?

Located in the grass around the red circle.

 

Sounds like either a bug or an EasterEgg... strange.

 

I need to set the map to night and scare myself by going to that place sometime.

Great, but is this a bug? I'm thinking about making a bug report as this seems out of place.

 

Highly doubt it is a bug. Too intentional. And seeing as a dev made a vid for all of us, it's definitely an easter egg.

 

Those sounds would never need to be used in the game anyway. It's a very specific and implausible bug, so it's obviously an easter-egg of sorts.

I noticed when I landed Carlos Air's ultralight in the fields nearby. I've always just assumed it was a misplaced 'creepy' sound fx volume that was originally supposed to go around the swamp house. It's the only other 'creepy' thing in the map.

Edit: Here it is, re-positioned and reoriented.



It still contacts the surrounding roads, so it's not perfect evidence that this was its original intention.

 

Where is the Swamp house? Is that the house in the field?

 

The swamp house is in the swamp.

Video by BJcreeper. Now I'm leaning towards the theory that it's misplaced sounds for the swamp.

It seems it has been removed from East Coast in the recent patch of 0.4.2.1 (The changelog states just: "Removed soundscape on East Coast, USA"), but there's still a way to listen to it, at least for now. These are some instructions explaining how to listen to it:

To do so, press F11, look for the "Scene Tree" (On your right middle of your screen) section, once you found it, click the "Library" tab, then click the "Level" tab under it, and then double click the folder "Environment", then look for "Sound emitter", then double click to add it. Now under the list, there's a section called "Inspector", now look for the row that says "Track", there's a drop down box next to it, click it and select "MenuSound", you'll then hear the same described "eerie" sounds.

 

If it was located at the abondoned house in the swamp, it would fit that (my) video so well...

Since they removed it I don't seem to hear any sound at all in that area. However if I move out of it I can hear birds again.
