I guess it's time to open a thread for this. I present you the first working train system for BeamNG. Small teaser video (forgive me my bad video skills): Features (so far): One locomotive and two waggons (european) Locomotive and waggons are separate vehicles whose can be connected with a mechanical coupling Working buffers Some animations on the locomotive Meshed tracks, on which the train rides with wheels and low-friction nodes (Learn more about the principle here) Small "8-style" map with two (not yet working) switches Problems: Switches not fully working (I need fixed nodes for that) Driving characteristics are improvable Coupling system is only temporary until real hooks are available All content made by me. I will not release a testing version at this point as things will change. I don't want people to build stuff for an unfinished train system. Rails and trains need to work perfectly together, otherwise you will not be happy with it. As I am very busy IRL this project might get interrupted, I will definitely not work on this during the holidays. So please be patient. Thank you.
Amazing didn't think we would be seeing trains yet and it looks like it runs on the rails really well nice job
Run a malware scan pronto and check your PC hasn't been reconfigured for proxy usage. The BeamNG site is ad free, if you have even 1 ad, something is terribly wrong.
It seems I have some competition on my hands. Nothing like a little competition to push things along.
Hate to tell ya but this one actually works so far.... Yours is just a model so far. But 2 trains are better than 1
