He isn't. Many discussions have been had around this topic, and there isn't enough similarities. Mainly, YBR is in IT from what he talks about in his videos, and Gabe works for Beamng. Also, WBR has different specs than Gabe. Finally, YBR lives in California, and Gabe lives in New York.
Ninja tricks. There's a way to make that say something other than what it normally would (on your end only of course), but I don't remember enough to actually explain what it is or how to do it, and I'm too lazy to figure it out again. As for why, it was to keep his real username a secret so he could download mods in peace without being fanboied to death. As for the choice of gabe's username specifically, it might have just been intended as a joke, or it might have been to create a crazy rumor that would then be funny.
It's some simple coding magic. It's easy to do if you know how. It only takes an couple secs to change it. Notice how he doesn't click on anything on the site in the video and instead navigates the site through premade tabs? That's because if he would then the page would have refreshed and all of his page editing would have vanished and his name would've returned to normal. Example of black magic: I would tell you how to do it but i'm afraid users would spam post telling people they are tdev or something like that.
If Gabe had the same lack of knowledge about cars as YBR does the cars in the game would be horrible.
