i doubt this is the right place to put this but since your concept shown in the header made me think of it, i'll just put it here :D
Okay, so what if we had a separate save menu for tuning, (a save menu seperate from the modifications one- or maybe a separate category inside of saves?) that way you can load up tuning save files rather than physical parts if you want, or maybe combine the two etc. Tuning (mainly tuning saves, when applied) would only affect parts that can be tuned, so if you had a saved tune that would, say, increase the ride height but you don't have adjustable springs, nothing would happen. (and of course it would work the same way with mods n' stuff)))

Of everything you mentioned, this is what intrigues me the most. Tying suspension height into the active aero system is a great way to increase the realism on the latter.

Of course, when I hear "suspension height adjustment", my mind immediately goes to lowrider hydraulics, but I hardly think that's what you're aiming for with this thread. ;)

Farm equipment is increasingly doing this too, along with Class 8 trucks in various roles from forestry to waste collection - and it wouldn't surprise me if similar systems started showing up as aftermarket 4x4 parts inside of the next ten or so years. Hopefully we'll see something of this nature make its way into beamng - perhaps a system where a "high" pressure and a "low" pressure are set via the tuning menu, with a button/drivetrain UI component that allows the player to switch between the two on the fly. This could prove interesting, especially when coupled with ongoing improvements to the "mud" groundmodel.

Remember my old SAAB had a "Snow" Drive mode, no idea what it did.

Really want an "Eco" mode and "Sports" in the ETK. Maybe then I will understand what Eco does since I cant tell in my BMWx1 (Chinese spec, 1.5l with turbo)

    Please make this happen @Diamondback

    EDIT

    For example

This is what different pedal mapping vs certain modes looks like on a 2.7L Ford ecoboost

For those wondering.. In reality you won't be changing power output. You are just changing throttle feel and response between different modes.

What vehicle are you talking about that has ridiculous dbw lag lol. I've got a 2012 accord v 6 speed car. Its dbw and ive got insta response. Especially with my Ktuner I can adjust the dbw settings to my liking for performance oriented driving. Which is what most of these newer cars do nowadays is just make a more aggresive ramping of dbw input.

Probably something like the Chevy Trax. I don't know about most, my mom's is a 2018 model, but when you step on the gas, it gives you nothing in first gear... like I thought at first it was turbo lagging something fierce until I looked under the hood and saw that it is an NA engine. You almost have to put the pedal to the floor to pull out anywhere... once you get past first gear, you get all your power back, but first gear the DBW throttle just refuses to let the engine have any power.

2014 Dodge Journey. Responds instantly to lifting off the throttle, but has a very noticeable delay when you step on the throttle. Apparently this is for emissions and so your input can be run through every computer (gearbox, traction control, etc.) but it has come close to getting me T-boned before.

I doubt it would take more than 1ms for the car to process your input, even if it had to check with every computer it has. If there is a delay in that system it will be intentional. That said, its probably your driving that made you close to getting t-boned, not the delay in your throttle pedal.

Normally I would agree with you, but in some cars, like Shotgun Chuck said, there is either a massive delay or a purposeful power cut. You are right in the fact that the car should take almost next to no time at all to process the input, so that clearly isn't it... but in my mom's Chevy Trax, there is a MASSIVE power cut on acceleration in first gear. Why does it do this? I have no idea... but it is actually terrifying. You press on the gas like you normally would while driving it around expecting a certain amount of power, but if you are at a stop in first gear, what you get is half to almost a third the amount of power you normally have which in turn causes you to panic and hit the brakes (thus not pulling out because the car wasn't going at all) or panic and stomp the throttle only to have the vehicle pull away like a 90 year old grandma until it shifts into 2nd gear... once it shifts... BAM! It gives you everything it's got and doesn't hold back (not that that is a lot)... but before it shifts, the thing is downright terrifying to drive in traffic.

If I could predict how much it was going to hold me back every time, it wouldn't be anywhere near as terrifying, but it always seems like it's different... like it is calculating for something and coming up with a different result every time. I dunno... all I know is I hate it when it does that to me.

Yeah, I've driven a Subaru that could use that. It's a CVT, and the CVT has such a low range, and the 2.5 is torquey enough, that it'll slam you into your seat pulling away from a stop until you get used to the throttle. It's pretty touchy in general, but once you're moving it's much less pronounced. On the other hand, my 07 Pacifica does have some throttle lag, but that's mostly just clogged stuff. It was way worse before I replaced the (10 year old!) air filter, but it's barely noticeable now. I suspect new spark plugs would make it disappear almost entirely.

But anyway, looks like great progress. I can't wait to see it finished. What happens if you have tracks on the 6x6? Is there even room?

There is real throttle lag with modern cars. The only modern car I have driven that doesn't suffer from terrible throttle lag is my dad's RAM, but it may just be because the torque of the V8 makes it harder to notice. I drive a 1999 Buick Regal which has a cable operated throttle, If you want to go faster, it does so without any hesitation from the engine. Some of the worst offenders I have driven are the Nissan Altima, Ford Fusion with the 3.5 V6, and my old basketcase Saab 92X. The Fusion isn't that bad, but the input lag from the throttle is noticeable at highway speeds but not so much from a stop. The Saab I used to own (an Impreza rebadge) was a 5 speed, and it would take about 5 seconds from me mashing the pedal to the throttle fully opening. It made blipping the throttle on downshifts very awkward as I would need to floor it for a second to raise the RPM to more than 3000. I don't think it was programmed to open slowly, I believe that it was hardware not being able to keep up with the inputs. The Altima is truly an awful car. Its ok for basic transportation but only marginally. The throttle does not respond at all within 5 seconds. I'm not even kidding it waits about 5 seconds before even trying to move the throttle. Paired with a Crappy Variable Transmission, especially when tuned for economy, you get a very dangerous car that can't get out of its own way.

I am aware that lag exists between pressing the pedal, and the car moving, I've just not known for it to exist because of drive by wire. Because wire should be he same speed as cable, but without cable stretch and so on.

But then I have only ever driven a Honda Jazz/Fit (over the period of a few months), and while its no sports car, it always did what I asked of it promptly. The brakes were a bit too touchy for me though.

1- whatever you make, make it clickable inside the vehicle. (Was it first lift clutch then press the throttle? oh no, I guess it's the other way, ok now where was the ignition key? *clicks clicks*)

2- I like to go vrooom vrooooom but sometimes I'm just in mode of netflix&chill, ehm, euro truck I mean, want to explore hills or bad condition asphalt rural roads. I should do this with an old school powerful car without an ESC, so we should control the fuel-air mixture.

3- I still suffer when I want to modify any car. Not related to this topic I believe but still I want to make a upgrade without spending hours for only one car.

4- Also not related much but controls settings page should have a shortcut key too. It took ages when guiding it from regular settings page.

I've heard that manufacturers tend to aim for about 120ms. This delay feels like a lot more than that. And yes, I'm almost sure it's intentional, probably for emissions reasons as I said. I've also been in a 2006 Nissan XTerra that did the same thing. And my driving might have been a part of that, but I'm still going to blame the car.

Basically, I was trying to get out of a parking lot into heavy traffic... on a 55 MPH road. I wasn't sure I'd have enough space to make it out, so hesitated momentarily. In a cable-throttle car (which is what I'm used to driving) you can get away with this. In a DBW car, such a tiny hesitation can become a major delay because the context-blind computer doesn't know or care that you were just stepping onto the pedal a heartbeat ago and so processes your attempt to accelerate as a completely new press of the throttle, which of course has to run through the usual BS delay. At the speed traffic was moving, that delay made quite a significant difference in how much room I had!

maybe allow different vehiclecontroller settings, allowing different shift times, shift responsiveness, skipping gears, shift points, etc. in different driving modes, also allowing for a limited top speed in all modes except for "race" mode or something like that.

I have been asking for a skip gear option for awhile now. It would be amazing especially for modern transmissions with 9+ gears. A good example is the 10R80/10L80. It doesn't go through every single gear unless it needs too (in sport mode etc) in economy or normal mode it skips gears.

This is gonna be a bit of a ramble here I do apologize in advance!

I have been thinking over the driving modes problem again, I feel for electric vehicles (which I know are coming as I stated before there is the Electric SBR4 coming in the future) there should be modes for it like for example

Eco mode for economical driving and with maximum regenerative braking on it to recoup the energy and store it in the battery
Performance mode for a bit more performance, more power from the regenerative braking system
Track mode for less interference from the TCS and ABS systems, Like performance mode but everything turned up a little further

    As for if there is a racing/Hillclimb version;
Race mode for the maximum performance from the battery but at a cost of the battery life expectancy being reduced by a considerable amount
Hillclimb mode Same as race mode but possibly with more output or additional electric motors, so instead of 2 motors for front and rear axle it goes to 4 motors so one per wheel

I feel also the UI of the game needs to take account of the electric functionality to allow for different units to be used as well, I mean you dont use mpg for an electric car you tend to use Watt hours per mile

If they would, it probably wouldn't be a default option, more like a "eco" mode to choose from on the ETKs or something

Wow, never knew there was more to driving modes than things like steering feel and exhaust note
