Lately (in the past week or so) I have been seeing heaps of new members join the forums and it just made me wonder... how popular is BeamNG.drive? Considering BeamNG only runs on mid/high-end Windows PCs, is an Early-Access game and appeals to a pretty niche market I would have thought it wouldn't be that popular... However, the amount of reviews the game has, the amount of views the game gets on YouTube and it's large community seems to suggest otherwise. Does anyone have any statistics on how popular the game actually is? Sorry if this post is a little random, but I'm genuinely curious
BeamNG looks really popular with the amount of views (some videos got 100M+ views) but when we see that : https://steamcharts.com/app/284160#1y we can see that the game has "just" a player average of 2000 people (that is still good for a strange game like this ). We can compare with 4 racing games that are comparable to BeamNG.Drive https://steamcharts.com/cmp/284160,244210,228380,378860 .
That graph is really interesting to see, thank you for linking it I'm surprised how many more players BeamNG has compared to Project Cars 2, as I thought being an AAA game it would have a much larger playerbase. It's good to see 'indie' companies such as BeamNG are competing and winning against all the big boys. I am also very suprised how close BeamNG is to Assetto Corsa, at some points it even overtakes it. Glad to see after all these years BeamNG still is an incredibly popular game.
Interestingly, the game peaks playership at about 3-4 PM Eastern Standard Time. I wonder where the highest concentration of Beam players is, as it cant be in the US because school and 2nd shift factory jobs are just getting out at 3, and farther west it is even earlier.
Not popular enough. I have only one friend that knows about it, but he only watches videos and knows nothing about the actual game itself.
is it really that shocking? both project carsses were widely panned by players and critics. plus that doesn't speak to the number of people who own/launch it through uplay i say, blame austria
Good point. I'm sure people only brought those because they had the best damage models on console, and we all love some destruction.
Your forgetting that in the northeast there are a lot of little towns that may only take 15-30mins to get home and my Highschool got out at 2:20pm.
Tbh, idk if this game is popular in my city. I rarely or if not hear anyone talk about BeamNG Drive at my school which holds about 1800+ people
I have a few friends that know about it, but the problem is that only one has a pc even remotely powerful enough to play it, and everyone else has consoles, so it isn't really on anyone's radar.
I know of one other person who is aware of Beam, and he doesn’t have it as per the fact that it doesn’t support VR, oddly.
Yea, I've told my friend about BeamNG and he is really interested, the issue is only has a Macbook and is spending what little money he has on his Land Cruiser.
Well its my go to game. i play GTA and sims. But i say 75% is beamng, cars are my life. And when driver less crap is out. games like this will help keep the joy alive.
I don't know a lot about vehicles, I don't get out very often...only when necessary because of parents...I don't go to school...I'm weird, so I have absolutely no idea how popular it is here in the forest. All I know, is that I play BeamNG out of boredom. Kinda says something when you start making a map out of boredom aswell...
My cousin got a gaming PC. He said he downloaded BeamNG because I said it's a good game. He says it's boring, so every time I go over to his house I am the only one that gets to play it. I don't think anyone at my school has even heard of BeamNG. Fortnut (Fortnite) is taking over them.
Id say the boring part comes from it doesnt give the player a purpose. In all other games in similar cathegories youre steered to do certain things. You start a career, a championship, a series of races, drift for points or something. So far that is really lacking. Sure theres awesome time trials and so on to take on, and more to download but you dont need to. You cant compare yourself to others on a best times board for example, meaning such a basic human instinct to compare to others and finding your place just isnt in Beamng yet.
