Let's not forget one small fact:
    upload_2019-3-25_21-36-38.png

They might not have PR department of certain wealthy American gentleman, but they are the developers and to be a developer it has taken years of hard work, fails and learning, they do know their stuff and are chose few that excel beyond common member.

They want success for the game more than anyone and no matter how good common member thinks he is, their abilities are far beyond.

How some member have a nerve to tell developers how or what to do is probably how it feels for developers with years of experience to read of such.

So, if anyone think he knows it better than developers, then it is best to first consider what experience, information or skills one has and how it compares of creating and running something like BeamNG.

There is chance of barking dog syndrome if one does not do much else than bases his point on how he feels devs should do without any experience, skills or pretty much anything to bring into table, but just the feeling.

Ah yes, PR, art of managing feelings of population for desired effect, that is what public relations really does and on that of course feelings are all there is to communicate from, but maybe expressing it as how oneself feels rather than instructing devs to do something, might be better PR here.

Not that I would be any better, just bringing up something which not all might have thought, which might be useful for everyone to think.

I wonder if the fire station in the dev sneak peek is a hint at possibly getting a fire truck of some sort.

...That's kind of like saying because there's a dock, we will get a boat. Not meaning to be mean, and it's a bit more extreme, but I'm not sure about a new model. Maybe a severe modification from the T-Series, but I'm not sure.

Probably not, that would be a bit of a stretch, even for the devs. And the Bluebuck seems to be their priority for now.

There is little to no chance of a dedicated custom chassis fire apparatus.

However, some vehicles might be compatible with fire engine upfits.

For example, a modern European truck, a modern American commercial truck, the Gavril D-Series, or any other pickup.

As a dedicated vehicle, likely never, also likely there will never be a variant for the T-Series, as the T-Series is a semi-truck and most American fire engines are built on commercial or custom chassis.

Yeah, that's still a severe doubt. Atleast we have skins. Maybe just roleplay but the fire departments are on a budget.

However, note that the Gavril H-Series received an ambulance upfit.

For the D-Series, a skid unit wouldn't be that hard to make.

On the other hand, for a European commercial truck, upfits wouldn't be that time consuming either, being similar in scope to the ambulance upfit for the H-Series or the various T-Series upfits. Remember that the ETK 4000/6000 Series had a fire engine upfit too?

A fire engine isn't that "out there" for the developers to be honest. However whether it's a priority is what's really important.

The only reasonable way to get a T-series fire engine would be a cabover T-series. Of course, the only parts that would share with the T-series would be the suspension, and maybe engine, since the T-series frame isn't really suited for a cabover design. Of course, the devs could drop everything and have a proper cabover/ medium duty truck in under 4 months, less if they made concept work on one at some point, but there's no reason to really do so. A proper fire engine probably won't come until after career mode, if at all.

Actually, the dock --> boat thing isn't that far out. There is the old unused ferry model, plus TDev made statements about the airport trollys and movable yachts in the week or so before Italy's release. Obviously none of those ever came about and the fire depot --> fire truck is a big jump, just saying it isn't a massive jump.

Although I agree a full on fire engine is at best a development end game "we got bored so have this" content, there are other options. As mentioned already, the D series (and if we ever get a medium/heavy duty Europe/Asia truck) can get some uplifts, and we already have the Roamer fire chief. There are plenty of FD support vehicles that could be fair game too.

Hopefully we will see new info about the next update in a week or two, since it's been 3 months since the last one.

    Wait, they actually confirmed that?

I was actually looking forward to it being a sedan, sort of.

Any photos? Frankly I can't see it being as well-proportioned as the sedan tease we got years ago.

Dang. I'd already decided back in 2015 the bodykit I wanted mine to have and everything. Of course, it's probably not going to have a widebody and wing vanilla, so I'd have to learn to model, and at that point...

With Italy nearing completion, I wonder if we will soon get information of the next planned map. I'd love to see another Progress thread like they did with Italy. I'm also curious as to how long it will take. I'll bet they learned a lot working on Italy and will be able to make a new map a little faster as a result.

I'd just like to know the plan with maps in general.

If they want to get update 1.0 out soon, the only realistic option is to finish Italy and wait for doullpepper to finish the asset/texture updates.

The issue for me is, the game will never feel like a full release to me unless the maps get a lot of work. You can usually tell which official map was made when just by comparing the quality of one to the next, which needless to say is not ideal. These issues run deeper than the textures and assets, so the updates (although greatly appreciated) won't be working miracles. With the general state of AAA games lately, seeing a small company pull off a full release properly would be nice to see, even with this project being what, 7 years old now? (Scary to think the official videos were first released on Youtube around the time my housemates son was born...)

I would love to see DLC packs once the base game is "complete", maybe something like 1 map and 2-3 cars for $15. Be a good way to support development and introduce content that won't feel out of place. Obviously free content updates are always welcome, but I imagine another sorce of income would really help a small team working on such a big project.

I don't thing DLC is the way to go with this game. If it is what happens, pre-release players like us should get them free. Otherwise, we don't want this game to become an EA game.

There is a right way and a wrong way to do DLC, unfortunately AAA games are increasingly shifting towards predatory microtransactions.

The issue with the "free for beta testers" model is this game has been out in beta for so long and for so cheap, releasing DLC that only later buyers pay for wouldn't yield much income.

Of course I prefer free content, but I would prefer to have a quality DLC every quarter instead of a free post-full release update every year as they transition to what would be a more profitable project.

Exactly this. Likely DLC content will be highly restricted and password protected, making modding it basically impossible, not to mention other mods conflicting with DLCs.
