While I'm quite new with forums in general (I tend to ignore them) beamng.drives forums are no where near as toxic as steam discussion forums or most social media (when I use to be on them back in 2011). I haven't noticed much toxicity outside of a few older members and the wiki (not going to start a toxic argument over that). Most toxic behavior is handled really fast by the forum moderation team members.
I disagree, they have banned people for misunderstandings and actions outside of the forums on multiple occasions. I agree, I blame this on some new users being kids or generally feeling superior for how long they have been here. also there has been a increase on new user like Ignacio who constantly ask for private mods, which could also be a reason why older members are sometimes toxic --- Post updated --- I strongly disagree, its the discord community that's strongest, but besides that everything else is agreeable
The amount of times this has been asked for on the forums is crazy but as of yet its on the whiteboard but I have experienced it thanks to Chris Lucas and it was virtually unplayable and it crashed my system (specs in the signature) it was that bad, its gonna come in the future and every time its asked for its pushed back another day dont expect it until about 2100.....
meh, sometimes the forums seem too happy to ban or delete some posts of mine then tell me that they dont censor nobody, but other than that i've never had issues with it. Once they 1 week-banned me from the website (because if you get forum-banned you are forbidden from checking the devlog, watching the threads, and checking the mod section) for making a dark joke about terrorism.
I think that whole "ban from the entire website" is stupid beyond belief. It should just prevent you from signing in. You can still see posts, mods, devblog, etc, but preventing you from posting. No matter how much of a troll someone might be, they shouldn't be blocked from the devblog or mod repo.
They can't ban you from the entire website, as I know quite a few banned members who still look around. You just have to sign out of your account first, by clearing your cookies or something.
Yeah but that's still a hassle. I am not allowed to click on log out if im banned, i would have to clear the cache and cookies of the browser. At least from the website. This is the only website that i know of that has this problem. Its not like resetera where you are banned for breathing the wrong way and all, but IF you banned your penalty is pretty hefty. Specially for those that dont know how to clear the cache/cookies of the browser that will be either stuck not using the site's mods at all or using another browser.
.. and you do not see what's wrong about that? If you intend to use any website, you need to abide by its ToS and Rules, which you usually accept when registering. If you get banned it's because you did something that is not right to be there (rules, common sense, etc.) That's most forum-places in short, and it's not different here. This is our home: people that cannot respect it or others are not welcome around here. The majority of the people in here do fine by simply applying that little bit of common sense required to never get into trouble. We like that, as it allow us to focus on the game. If have to worry about being banned, it's good time to re-think what you are posting here. Happy Easter y'all, spend some good time.
I didn't mind getting banned lol. I just said if im gonna get banned for posting offensive stuff then dont try to tell me that the moderators almost never ban people.
I dont get why you want to post offensive stuff on a forum for a car simulator game, I just dont see the point.
I'd say the moderators ban about 1-3 actual people a year, and they pretty much all deserve it. I say that counts as almost never. Despite all the flack the moderators get, they are usually very tolerant.
Well, that number might not be entirely accurate, I'm sure quite a bit happens in off-topic that I don't pay attention to. But the only users that have been banned I can think of is ivan and his alts, opkraut, carbohydration, darren9 and maybe some temporary bans over various meshslap/model stealing controversies. Considering the size if the forums, it's not bad at all.
Getting banned from a forum is the LEAST of your worries in terms of potential consequences. People can, have and will get arrested for making such "jokes". It isn't funny. I get that you might find dark humor to be funny, but posting it in a public forum is a very bad idea. It isn't worth the potential consequences. Also, don't think that posting online will keep you from getting into trouble. I've heard of cases where someone made such jokes thinking they were having some harmless fun, and ended up arrested with a criminal record. I honestly do hope you get this point sooner rather than later. You'll be better off for it.
The forum community is a bit crazy, didn't do the research on multiplayer so I didn't know if it had been asked before. Nevertheless, shame it's not going to happen. Would bring in troves of traffic.
well, we cant say it wont happen. it probably wont- but that's not to say its impossible. with the heaps of optimization Beam is getting it may be an idea, just not in the foreseeable future. or we could all be wrong. I still dont see how 2 player is off the table so fast. i mean, just syncing the PC's and games might actually way harder than i think, but i could see maybe a LAN type system to start, like local multiplayer for MC. I could just be misinformed or ignorant though.
