Physics engine updates each 0.0005 seconds, network latency is something like 0.0010s in LAN, but that is just network latency, it takes time to handle and transmit all data, so you need to interpolate all node positions. Let's say you crash to something at 40 meters per second that is something around 2cm resolution at 2000Hz, but probably over 4cm with network latency, add some data transfer to that and you could be at 40cm resolution, so instead of passing car nearby you might crash into it or miss car completely that you were about to crash, with head on crashes you will get vehicles inside each other and physics instability or some other weird effects. Of course interpolation helps with that and limiting what data to transfer etc. 120Hz is what some online games physics run at, that is 0.0083 seconds that is 0.332 meters resolution at 40 meters per second, small speed difference is usually okay, but crashes with high speed difference are usually bit odd, there is lot of interpolation and faking that makes things stable and collisions bit odd. So probably it is not perfectly impossible, but there are probably much more challenges than I understand there being, what very little I understand about time and speed tells me that it will be quite big challenge.
you my man are intelligent...I bought the game just becuz it has no dlc.If they add dlc I'll be really sad
I think a reason why the forums feels like it's dying is because it's been what, 6 years since release? People do kind of age and get busy. Might have lost Darren9, now we have GamerGull.
I keep trying to make suggestions from time to time but most go by unseen by the devs despite getting many upvotes. And they're actually doable, realistic things. I do understand that there's a lot of suggestions to dig through but it does leave the truly good ones left behind.
i mean GTA V has been out for the same time. Although they are two very different games, Beamng has potential but i guess its because there isnt much to do aside from replay the scenarios and test new mods which get boring pretty quickly. My point here is maybe more exciting driving modes should be added as well as different driving modes for cars. By that i mean suspension settings, exhaust valves settings etc.
Yeah, BeamNG is much more time consuming and technically money consuming than mods for GTA V. It makes sense.
Pretty much same if you would have 1070Ti, physics of multiple cars rely on CPU and there is even more to that, but your GPU is mostly resting.
for me it's not dying.. just need better PC)) today i installed traffic tool and get insane amount of fun. but i need better cpu(current 2600k) and gpu(current 2070).. with this config i can run 4 car's with ultra graphics.
personally, this is what i think like every community, people come and go Modders find better things to do in life and lack the time to code some dots and lines. but as i've noticed, as people go, people will come but not the people who can replace the ones who left a lot of these people are the ones who think they're replacing these people by slapping models of an R35 on an unmodified Bolide jbeam. And as these guys fill the forums, it seems modders just dont want to deal with them or something and stop posting and do personal things so, statistically i don't think it's dying, but with such a young community following all these popular youtubers (link 100% related) we're bound to lose some replacements for those we loose
I dont think this game is dying, it is just going through a bit of a quiet patch. When I first got the game in 2014, I knew nothing about the forums and I just played it with no mods etc. Anyway when I did create my forum account it was thriving. There were mods being added daily and the game was relatively unknown at that point. The game was also updated more frequently. Now the company is getting bigger and technology is advancing, the game is going to take longer to develop and updates are going to be less frequent. I would love frequent updates, but I would rather quality not quantity. The game has also become really popular on YouTube and channels like crash driven and car pal frequently use mods from Russian websites. People then go to those websites to get mods and not the forums. As we know, the devs are busy and we have got to be patient for the updates, but the game really is not dying. It is as I said, in a quiet patch. Wait till the release of the next update, the ibishu kashira gen 2, man TgS. And all of those great mods. The forums will go nuts again.
I don't see how this can even be called a quiet patch. More and more high quality mods seem to be released/nearing completion, and major updates are hitting the one per quarter mark fairly consistantly (everyone remember how long the pre-race update took?..) The only thing that seems to be shrinking is the amount of good quality content creators on YouTube. Some creators have stopped and some have lowered quality standards to try and work to YouTube's stupid algorithm's, leaving only a couple left.
no, what I mean it is quite development wise. it has been a little while since we got a major update and I feel there may be one coming soon. anyway, it is not as.. frequent, packed? I don't know. I used to come on in the morning with 20 to 30 notifications, now I barely get any. it is definitely quieter than it used to be. in a way i ques that is good, but also bad???
Development wise they have been consistantly hitting quarterly updates with a decent amount of content. Updates are't packed with content, but they never have been. However, Italy/Autobello was the first time we got a map and a car in the same update since what, Utah/Miramar? As for the forum, it isn't that quiet IMO. The time approaching an update is always a bit weird for the forum activity. It seems to me that we've got a new wave of members though, I've noticed a couple new members this past week.
The Discord part I don't agree with. The BeamNG community on Discord isn't that great, about like the forums really. Constant drama among members, it's just childish. I quit caring about BeamNG drama long ago, and so should everyone else. It's not something anyone should spend their time on. As of today, the only BeamNG server I'm in is MFD, as they know how to moderate and keep things civil. I'm not saying all parts of the Discord community is awful, it's just the awful side that shows. With that said, why do people even fight over a car game, it's just ridiculous. I left most BeamNG related servers because it's not something I'm gonna waste my time on, and get pinged in them over drama I don't need in my life. I've been a lot happier since I've left them, and I have no regrets. As everyone grows up, they'll realize that it's much better to enjoy the game, and not spend their time arguing with kids on the internet. With that said, I love this community, but I am thoroughly disappointed that we can't just enjoy the game. TLDR: Everyone just needs to take a step back, and enjoy the game. Discord drama isn't worth it.
Could be that you are participating less so you get less notifications that way, or maybe you are participating to different discussions that are not so popular and previous discussions you have participated. There is lot that affects amount of notifications.
