most of them dislike american cars because they handle awful. they use suspension tech from the 70s and dont follow advanced as quickly as EU cars do. Most likely this is to keep costs down but performance suffers. They are also large and alot of areas in Europe dont work well with larger cars.
They're so big and the interiors are really "plasticky." (If that's not it then it's just Jeremy Clarkson's opinion.)(Then again I probably shouldn't base something off of something Jeremy Clarkson said, anyway.)
If this was say...15 Years ago I'd agree they were way too big but these days they are usually the same size by segment. The interiors...they still have room for major improvement. He's right a lot of them well actually 90% of them...OK fine 99% of them have horrible cheap plastic interiors with less than ideal fabrics. Things are starting to look up a bit but its up to Europe here. If they start going plastic to save money we are doomed however If they use decent materials then I'd say the american companies might catch on in 5-20 years lol. After that all we need to fix is the deadly ignored recalls. GM is pure evil.
Yeah, a lot of the stuff they do is just for entertainment value. (Not saying it's bad at all. I love that show.) And yeah, a lot of the cars the US produced (Mainly 90s and early 00s) were very plasticy and cheap. Newer cars are actually really nice. Plus all the amazing cars from ye olde times. (30s to 70s) Plus you have to keep in mind the costs of the cars. The Dodge Viper for example. The 2014 SRT Viper is about $100,000 and you get 640 HP. (And sporty suspension.)
I kinda only like Chevys. The is a list of Chevys my family (grandparents included) has had. -Early 00 Impala -08 Impala -80s impala -05 Malibu -70s blazer -80s Blazer -90s Blazer -07 trailblazer -07 trailblazer -84 Monte Carlo SS -87 Monte Carlo SS -13 Camaro ZL1 -12 Traverse I think there's more from farther back like before my mom was born, but that's what I know of. It might be because my family only buys Chevys, but I think they are superior to any other brand on the market because they dramatically reduce prices buy only including stuff that people care about, not random heebeejeebee crap that no one knows how to use. Toyota are catching up on that one though and I was going to say Vauxhall are in the UK but Vauxhall are GM anyway so Plus of course Toyota aren't Euro or American, but I have no desire to ever own one, or any other Asian vehicle really, nothing wrong with them but I just don't really like them.
I would say more like Europe = Skinny Roads America = Wide Roads No full-size American pickup would last more then 5 mins on European roads.
i am from europe and i love american cars. just as much as i love european and japanese cars. only chinese, korean, india cars,...... i dont loke so much. apart from the hyundai genesis. thats an awsome car
Alright. Americans love their big ass cars, in Greece (where i'm from) you occasionally do see massive american pickups, like the ford F-150. compare those to a mazda pick up and it's huge, and also wastes a ton of fuel, and not as reliable sometimes. I don't hate them, but I dont like how much fuel those things waste, and how pointless it could be in a city area. Although I do love a good corvette or a mustang, everyone does.
We need that stuff over here. Little mazda pickups and ford rangers just aren't big enough. Yeah they do use a lot of fuel, but companies trying to make fuel efficient trucks is ruining trucks themselves. It's because all of these men working office jobs, and buy a truck to try and feel like a man again. They don't use it for truck work. They use it as a car, and they complain about the fuel efficiency. Whatever happened to the big v8s? And even if it is a v8, its weighed down with a buncha bullshit emissions and fuel standards. A truck should be used only for truck stuff, and if it is just being used on occasion for truck stuff, I'm very willing to sacrifice fuel efficiency for power.
Bullshit. If something this big can fit down these roads (all chosen as I frequent them and regularly witness this) then an american pickup is either built like shit and likely to fall apart with a slight nudge or entirely capable of fitting on these roads. <- Actually full blown HGVs frequent this one Our roads are narrower than american roads yes, but people really overestimate how much room a car needs.
more than likely, people think that the bigger american vehicles like full size pickup trucks won't fit because people who drive pickup trucks are used to big roads, and are not capable of keeping it on europes semi-smaller roads (all depends on driver skill)
More like the asshats who drive trucks. Most never move over at all... They act like the road is theirs. Mostly seems to be the office guy who wants a truck (Or his wife...) who do this. Most business vehicles and there drivers seem much more courteous. I'm basing what I know about English roads on the Top Gear where Jeremy drives the Hummer through a town.
