Might as well make a thread so I can keep you guys updated with progress. Here's a picture

    civetta1.jpg

You've probably figured out by now that this is supposed to be Italian. It's also going to be fast, unsafe, and feature pop-up headlights. The node/beam structure is nearly done. There's a ton of stuff left to model (underbody, interior, etc.), and then it all has to be UVed and textured.

I don't care how far from completion this car is. It already looks amazing. I can't wait to see more pictures. Keep up the good work! Btw, I like the name.

I can already imagine myself driving this thing along the most beautiful coastline imaginable under a golden sunset whilst losing control and smashing myself down a cliff and onto the solid rocks below.

Then because the police AI has the iq of a potato they all follow me into my stony grave. :D

8 Replies and this thread is already off topic... Seriously you guys, this is a forum for adults, act like one or take a hike.

The car looks fantastic Gabe, its immediately recognizable as a older 70s super car, yet while still being very unique looking. Good work as always.

Ok then. On topic: I just realized how similar "Civetta" is to both "Corvette" and "Cizeta." I think that was intentional because it does show many characteristics of an Italian supercar (like the Cizeta) and some elements of older American racecars (not really like a Corvette. More like the Ford MkIV and Chaparral 2G). I don't know whether that is just a coincidence, but really cool and creative nonetheless!

How is it off-topic when we are talking about the car and what it could be used for? :\

    - - - Updated - - -

And 'Bolide' is an oldish Dutch word for sports car.

    ...and!:
    http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/bolide
    bolide (plural bolides)

    1. Any extraterrestrial body that collides with Earth
    2. An extremely bright meteor
    3. A fireball

The naming of this thing is amazing.

Civetta is Italian for owl. Bolide is Italian for fireball. That is all.

Holy cow dude! My mouth litterally fell open when I saw this! That looks better than nearly all modern Italian(and otherwise) sports/supercars on the road today! Including Gallardos, Murcielagos and most, if not all new Ferraris. Really reminds me of an old 288 GTO and a Miura, and a Countach rear, they came together and made a baby, oh, and with a hint of De Tomaso Pantera(especially the name reminds me of that, for no reason)... 3 of the most beautiful sportscars ever made in my opinion! I really like the name too, it suits it really well.

I can't wait to see what engine model you'll make for this, here's hoping for a really beautiful V12 with some fancypants "all the same lenght" exhaust manifolds... Kinda disappointed you didn't chose for a hood opening like on a Miura/Ford GT40/Ferrari F40 though. With a hood opening like that, a beautiful looking engine would be a really nice piece to show off, but oh well, I can live without it :p

Also, I know it's really childish to get all excited about this, but....

    pop-up headlights AW YEAH :D

Very nice love the design of this car, and the popup lights top it all off.
