    Jesus fucking Christ, don't pardon my French because it's needed. These videos and just everything in general makes me jealous of life XD

    The bolide test in the tunnel sounded like a car was speeding right behind my laptop. Oh my fucking god.

    At this point, it'd be a miracle if my laptop doesn't explode on click.

    I spent the majority of the day working on making everything run smoother, but still look good. I went from 28fps without SSAO, AA, LightRays, DOF, to 45fps with them all on in the same place. (that's with 6 cars running the drag race, at 4k while looking across the entire map)

    Then . . I just took advantage of it and started messing around on the drag strip again.

    Today I:

    Improved overall playable FPS (created a bunch of LOD meshes for various models I've made, built collision models turning 1200 poly collisions into 30 poly collisions, visible range from 5000meters to 3500meters)
    Reworked the code and removed/cleaned up about 50+ lines of code loops, that's always good for efficiency.
    Built a lot more onto the drag strip area itself, a lot of road work, and plants/grass/trees yadda yadda.
    Cleaned up a bunch of the AI pathing to make it simpler for the AI to drive.
    Built new "WINNER" lights for the strip, much brighter/larger so you can see them from half a mile away easier.
    Sure I'm missing some things. Either way, 2am, time for netflix.

    Shucks, y'all are too kind! If they want another person to give money to my doors open, but as I've explained earlier in this thread; I've been building this for ME, everything a developer does is related to building things for other people! I'd be fired in no time =D

    i really dont think that at all.
    i think your genius and literacy with mapping in general would be fantastic for the game.
    heck, you could even just propose ideas or something. Then work on them if they get passed, so you would have motivation to do them.
    not sure if thats anywhere close to how it would work, but i'd like to imagine it. :)

    Haha well thanks then, I really do appreciate the positive encouragement from everyone, heck it's honestly the only reason I went so far as to even start work on the drag strip! My original plan was, "Make a level, and use those cool looking decal roads!" then it just went further and further and eventually I started making all my own props, textures, sounds, music, coding, and EUGH now it's almost JUNE! "Castle Run 2020" is looking more and more realistic as the days go on. Naaah, it's not that bad but I have to kick myself in the butt to get moving forward with this! I currently have these things to check off:

    - Finalize shapes/textures for starting gate/finish gate of the main Castle Run. 50% there
    - Finalize shapes/textures for drag strip 90% there
    - Finalize overall speed tunnel ambience - 95% there
    - Add props to dirt rally track - 10% done
    - Some "secret" level detail work - lots of thought on this still, but no solid implementation yet
    - One more "top secret" event that I've been working on for the past month, it's about 60% done and I just can't wait to show it off.

    Then it's just down to tweaking things here and there, and figuring out how to get all the ai to work at once instead of having AI on for just drag, street, rally, or speed run. I'd like to come up with some sort of UI or something that activates/deactivates certain waypoints thus connecting or disconnecting the ai paths real time as it seems WAYPOINTS adapt to realtime path changes, so it should all be doable.

    I know what you will be doing most of the next year, cleaning up those left over files and stuff :D

    Well, it probably does not harm if there are few leftovers left as most will not notice it anyway, they are too busing wiping drool from their gaming equipment :)

    That is like only about 6 months until it is 2020, that is pretty much nothing.

    What you are going to do if you can't wait that time, certainly you will play BeamNG next 5 years like all other infected ones, I mean there is no cure once you start playing this game, you will just get deeper and deeper.

    When you are 60, you have had 6 months 120 times already, so that really is just tiny fraction of time.

    This has to be the most incredible cinematic video ever made for BeamNG! That was some seriously breathtaking cinematography there. I literally got goosebumps watching it. :eek:

    I'm kinda speechless to be honest, what you have achieved over the past 5 months is incredible. Every progress update has amazed me, and you continued to exceed my already very high expectations of your work every single time.

    This trailer really has put everything together and really allows me, and everyone else, to appreciate the massive scale of your work and the level of detail you have put into it. Your blood, sweat and tears put into this map have really paid off.

    You really deserve to give yourself a massive pat on the back, as this has to be one of the most incredible things ever made in BeamNG :D

    I'm really looking forward to whats next for the Castle Run! Genuinely amazing stuff mate!! :D


    P.S. Someone give this man a staff pick!! Actually, screw that, hire him!!

    You know, you SAY these things but honestly, they don't compare to my excitement from, "Oh man, I can't wait for Crimson to see this!! I REALLY hope he likes it!" hahahahah. Some kinda freaky bromance goin' on here, settle down :D

    Thank you very much though, I'm extremely pleased with how this turned out - even if I screwed up the damn intro logo (it's supposed to slide off screen, but it just... disappears heh.)

    I'm in the process of finding a '95 Viper RT/10 in real life, my dream since the mid '90s, but I had to get this finished and out there before I really let myself focus on it. I don't have the cash or anything, but the whole, "where there's a will there's a way" mantra better hold true for this haha! Also gotta get my current daily back on the road, it's been a project for the past FOUR YEARS, so I need to take some time away from this. It's been my goal to get this trailer made, but there is still quite a bit of work left to do in the level. I've made some excellent progress the past week though (been working on the trailer for the past 4 days straight, but kicking the idea around for months) on both the ai pathing, and the drag race track. I replaced all the curbs in the level with those Italy high-stone walls, redid the lighting, improved FPS by about 40% and a bunch of other things. All in all it's finally in a good place to allow me to say, "okay, take a break, do what actually matters in life" for a few weeks.. or days.. haha!

    Also on a sidenote, I've had three comments on the video according to youtube but none of them are showing up and my messages/comments are empty. Some kinda wonky goin' on! On a plus side though, the video WAS flagged for copywrite with the music, but it's not been muted or taken down fortunately, just no monetization - whoopty.

    And FYI (I know it's too late now) but you can check to see if the music is allowed on YouTube through Creator Studio Classic. You should be able to find out how through a quick google search, but if not feel free to PM me :D

    Ok, time to go back to watching that trailer on a loop again ;) (even though I should probably be studying for my exam tomorrow :p)

    the attention to detail you are putting into this map is literally BeamNG team level, probably one of the best and most detailed map someone that isnt part of the team has made
