What do you think was the best single-year car company lineup?

I'd say it was the one BMW had in 1990.

You had the fun E30 (from the somewhat affordable 316i, to the practical 325ix, to the convertibles to the M3 Sport Evo), the midrange E34 (including the spacious wagon and the M5 version), and the E32 and E31 Autobahn cruisers, with the optional butter-smooth V12. The only grievance was that the V8s would still require a few years of waiting.

And what is your choice?

 

I think they were better off a decade earlier:

The E21, with the optional 323i: a great little sport coupe.
The E24: a perfect GT
The E12: A great luxury sport sedan
The E23: a comfy autobahn cruiser

 

That's all right, but the '90 Bimmers pushed those characteristics even further.

 

My choice would be VW's in 2010 or 2011. There was great variety of cars, there were SUVs (Tiguan and Touareg), normal cars (Golf, Passat, Polo, Fox, etc.), minivans (Sharan, Golf Plus, Touran), commercial vehicles (Caddy, Transporter, Crafter).

 

For me its VW in 1960-1967. They had the vw bug and split window bus. Enough said...

 

I'd say Honda in '85 to '88. You'd have the sleek CRX, the bang-for-your-buck Civic, the refined Accord, and the sharp Prelude.

Personally ( on the Bimmer part) I drove E21, E24 (several) E30 (several), E28 (two of them), E32, E34 (two) and also this '73 3.0S hah was a nice
one too

 

Hmmmmm yes old BMWs...... such great cars. Ever driven an E12?

 

nope, never the 12 That one hosts the first M535i (of wich I had the E28). I heard it's a beast, especially in case of Alpina.

 

'66 Oldsmobile, with the introduction of the FWD Toronado that broke all of the rules of Front-Drive cars and was still a great car, and the respective facelifts to other Oldsmobile vehicles that made them look vaguely like the Toro just completed the lineup.
Oh yeah and the '66 4-4-2 was based on the wonderful Holiday coupe and not the goofy looking semifastback of the early seventies.

 

IMO, in the late aughts, BMW had a very nice lineup

Both the X3 and the X5 were awful vehicles.

 

how bout the others?
well yeah the suv's were bad and......
ok they're still bad.

 

So were the X6 and six-series.

 

OK for their concept.

I do like BMW SUVs, they match a modicum of sportiness with seats I can comfortably get into.

 

I only like the 6 series because bmw put the v10 in it lol
though I hate the x6 because it started the coupe-suv tradition.

 

Well, there's more problems to the X6 than just the fact it began the SAC body styles.

 

Yeah, loads to be frank.

 

The 6-Series wasn’t the best looking, but it (in factual terms) was no worse than the 5 series.
