I am pretty much a beginner when it comes to 3D modelling, but I wanted to try to make something that is at least kinda maybe a little bit ok. It is actually a pretty hard car to work on since there aren't many blueprints, the ones I use aren't even symmetrical... and I also used some SuperNova reference pics instead of Nova. Outside body and chassis is mostly done, there is an untextured interior and a basic jbeam for the car. Most important things that are missing are engine bay components and suspension. If you see anything wrong please tell me. Older pics:
It was about time to see an Eastern European car here, Dacia Nova/Supernova is an extremely underrated car! It looks really good, good luck with it!
It looks awesome! However, isn't it a bit too high poly? Remember it has to be the same more or less as the base game cars! I am not sure tho I might be wrong! Anyway nice work, keep it up!
It is around 17k tris right now. I tried to optimise it as much as possible, I might be able to squeeze a little more. It's the doors that I can't get to look right without too many polys..
It's a bit unoriginal, every racing game with road legal cars has modern sports car, why not something special, not so well well known but still iconic. It makes for an interesting tuner and it's more challenging to drive. Modern sports cars just kinda work, you can take corners at really high speed and drift them easily. It's way more interesting to drive an imperfect car and work around it's problems and drive like it's made for it. It's also my duty to ensure that every car game ever has a Dacia.
Let's hope it is enough! I am not sure how many polys the vanilla beamng cars have but you can open their models in your 3D software and check! If its a bit more i dont think there'll be much issue but if you have too many polys maybe the game will be laggy! (it'll def lag more the more polys it has, im almost sure of that) Also about all people complaining about the car you chose to make. I must say in my opinion go for it! BeamNG needs more lesser known cars and cars that usually get less attention, It gets boring to always have the same iconic cars all the time! I'll be happy to play with this car you're making once its done!
that's the thing- speed isn't everything, for example, the volga 24, a stunning car. granted it wasn't available to the public, but it shows that the soviet cars aren't shite ;D
It was shite, due to an outdated chassis, interior packaging, drivetrain... everything. Most people, when given a choice, just got a fancy version of the Lada 210x. Most Volgas went to those who were given them as part of the job - taxi drivers, law enforcement, execs and all kinds of fleet drivers.
