Go into your start menu and search for "BeamNG" without quotes. An option should appear called "Open Folder". Click it. If no such option appears, Find the directory under which beamNG was installed. By default it's *SYSTEM-VOLUME:\Users\*CURRENT-USER\AppData\Local\BeamNG.drive\ or *SYSTEM-VOLUME:\Users\*CURRENT-USER\Local Settings\Application Data\BeamNG.drive\, depending on your Windows environment.

Open the \BeamNG.drive Folder. In it, along with a bunch of other files, should be an executable file by the name of update.exe. If not, there should be another file called update.exe.old. If so, right click, rename it to update.exe, and run it.

Also, make sure that you have a valid internet connection, i.e. one not obstructed by censors or a proxy.

this happens if your anti-virus or firewall interrupts the update process. Please try a fresh reinstall with those temporarily disabled, and make sure you are running in administrator mode. Also try installing somewhere "safe" like C:\BeamNG, since Windows can sometimes block file modification in Program Files or the default folder (C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\BeamNG)

Another common cause is that your computer is set to use a proxy. Please disable it with the following steps: Start --> In the search box type Internet Options --> Connections --> Lan Settings --> Disable any proxy settings.

I had the same problem. It was due to me running Privoxy. Once I disabled the proxy in the control panel->Internet options the update.exe would run fine.

    what antivirus are you using?

you can also check to see if your windows firewall is blocking the updater from the control panel. that might be what's causing it, not your antivirus.

check your proxy settings. You can disable it with the following steps: Start --> In the search box type Internet Options --> Connections --> Lan Settings --> Disable any proxy settings.
