Car tuning and engine moddin

I wish gabester or one of the developers Will just tell us if it will have A simulator ( FREE ROAM LIKE ROR ) We know about careers mode. But Sometimes after a bad day i just want to drive/carsh a car for the hell of it. I mean spending heaps of time/money in career mode and you carsh becoze you fell like it ther goes youre in game money. So please gabester or one of the developers just back to us on this with a yes or no. Sorry to be a pain but i just want to know.

 

I remember reading that the devs have said there will be a 'sandbox' mode to where you can just horse around and wreck stuff like in ROR.

Even if you don't like the career mode you could still hack in money by changing you savegame config. Demo derby would be fun as hell and we need a good demoderby game. Demo derby in example in Dirt Showdown was super gay and unrealistic. The best Demoderby and Dirt track racing game ive ever played was Test Drive Eve of destruction on PS2 that games was legit and I recommend people buy it and play it. Youll want a demo derby game efter you play that

 

Yeah i had Test Drive Eve of destruction on PS2 till the ps2 broke. But i think a free rome mode is needed. But demo derby will be fun. But i still want to know if there will be free Rome or not.

 

gtaman, if I remember correctly, the main thing is the career mode, because gabe is right, after awhile sandbox will get boring, because you can only do so much random stuff before it just becomes redundant and boring, so it would be nice to have something else to do, such as that career mode. Also, I am not sure if having multiple levels like that is a real good idea, it seems like it would cause more problems as well as confusion. Just follow the KISS principle, it should be a free demo and full game, the demo should have limited access, either by limiting to you can only get to a certain level, or can only access certain vehicles or missions, etc. Whereas the full game is self-explanatory.

I agree about Test Drive: EOD, I have that for the original XBox, haven't played it in awhile though, and I agree that the Demo Derby stuff in Dirt3 was nowhere near as good as EOD, and honestly Dirt3 was a huge letdown in comparison to Dirt and Dirt2, it felt like a simulation style game has turned into an arcade game, and I am not too fond of that.

 

I don't see why a "sandbox" would be hard to do; choose a map, choose a car, drive.
In the delivery you would need a lot more work. So if sandbox is really easy to do, and it's about crashing, I'm guessing it will be there. It should.

 

That's what I was about to say, why wouldn't BeamNG have a sandbox mode?

A little more on topic: have you guys made engines yet or are you still faking it?

 

What do you mean? They have already said that they aren't planning on simulating individual engine parts but that the cars will perform realistically based on what engine the car has.

 

If you watch one of the older videos, like "rallying in a street car" you can see by the tachometer that the engine isn't really an engine , they even said. I think in the latest video "BeamNG and Torque3D" the same still happens or someone just likes using the clutch a lot but the revs still go down fast - What happens is that when there is no throttle, the tacho/engine drops to 1000 rpm, go watch the video

I think there is a Torque/horsepower mapping somewhere, but the engine isn't simulated, it just takes the rpm from the wheels and uses the map to find what torque and horsepower there is, engine rpm doesnt exist really, but don't ask me, I didn't make it
