What would be the best is if the devs could get to work on way for us to be able to host a lobby online for a friend to join so we do not have to play with bots and can do a lot more that way as well i do think it would be hard but i bet the game would gain a bit more popularity. and maybe even make it so we can do the demo derby mode with friends online instaid of multiseat. if you agree with what i think should happen post your replys below
Eum, isn't Wreckfest the multiplayer version of BeamNG Drive, correct me if I'm wrong, that way we all learn.
Multiplayer might not ever be a thing because of the complex pysics the game has. I have seen this question asked numerous times and the short answer is no, there most likely will not be multiplayer.
The devs want multiplayer, yes, but due to how complex the game engine is & it being their first big thing, I wouldn't count on getting multiplayer anytime soon (or at all)
This quote by atv pretty much explains the challenges of bringing the traditional multiplayer most think of to BeamNG.
This topic has been discussed to death already, the physics engine that the game uses, Torque3D, makes it apparently 30 times harder to do stuff with multiplayer according to Estama and I believe they are one of the smartest people working on the game so far, if they say its a problem to add Multiplayer to a game with a physics engine that makes things 30 times harder, trust me its not gonna happen any time soon!
what if they try to work on getting a new engine for the game to make it possible might not happen soon but if they can make that possible it might be possible to see multiplayer maybe unreal engine 4 due to its new physics i do not know i am spit balling. or maybe even they can find away to modify the engine used in a way to allow it to be possible remember we have ai cars drive around i do not see any lag the only thing i could see being a issue is the ping as when driving say you friend is driving but on your screen he would be all over the place causing his vehicle to break and all sorts of things breaking the game as i think that would be a challenge yes but if they can somehow pull it off i think they will get a lot of ground for the game and it might receive a lot of good reviews bringing the devs into the mood to keep working i theory think it would be a good thing to yes at first it could go wrong but i never gave up on this game i mean i have all ways had faith as far as this game as come from when it started i believe it possible if they put there mind to it. i hope one day to see this happen i would and so would everyone in the community would love to see this maybe make a experimental version of game for people to test and help with reporting bugs to make the process easier for you guys there is a lot to hope for this could not happen but i would love to see them try at least. --- Post updated --- and i to be truthful did not bother to read the post above . but the last thing i saw about collisions i know it is hard to fix that but if you use the engine you got i do not know might be doable if not there is always other options this is the only game that has this much crashing other than wreck fest but that game does not compare to this i think. it would a be a good thing to make it work somehow
They are not, I can assure you of that. Maybe it would've been possible at the start of the games' development, but right now it's not gonna work; they've spent way too much time, effort & research on this engine to now change it over to some other one + they would need to pay money for the new engine license
Just NO, there will be NO multiplayer. No internet mutiplayer, no LAN multiplayer, no local multiplayer Even splitscreen and multi UI is NOT even planned. BeamNG.drive is, and always will be, a single player game
Never say never. Long time ago people tend to say "there will be NO physics base destruction in games" and look what we have now. Also recently game has been optimized to the point, that more than one car isn't that big issue anymore. I was surprised that I can respawn 3 cars with reflections on and game don't look like PowerPoint presentation. That is HUGE improvement and I believe one day we'll get splitscreen.
They have said multiplayer is a planned point of research. But the idea of starting over again for a second time? At that point why not just wait another 5 years or so for them to be moving onto a new project...
Let's think about the game/physics engine swap idea like this. Imagine the game engine is the foundation of a house; all of the important bits rest on that. Now imagine having to rebuild the foundation. Yes, it is possible. Sometimes at least. Yes, sometimes it is even worth it. But a lot of times it isn't. Completely replacing a foundation can cost around 1/4 what the house is worth and sometimes isn't even possible. At that point, many home owners would be in the range of debating starting all over from scratch. This deabte happened with Minecraft a few years ago. Being that the game started out as a project by Notch and wasn't intended to become anything serious, there's some really weird stuff in the foundation. The Java edition of MC is just that, built in Java. People really wanted Jeb to put MC on a true game engine since it would be incredibly beneficial to every part of the game. In 2019 most gaming CPU's are multithreaded and at least 6 cores; I can't even remember the last time one of my friends built a quad core set up. Yet Minecraft can only use 1 core. Minecraft is a very simple game also made by a small team, sells for around the same price, and is one of the most popular games of the era. The point is, Jeb had every reason to greenlight the project compared to BeamNG. And yet he still concluded that it would take too long to be feasible. If you want multiplayer BeamNG, you have two options. Play Rigs of Rods, or wait a couple of years for BeamNG to either start a new project or put a lot of recources into R&D and hope they find something that lets them do this.
Isn't a big part of the problem with splitscreen local play the fact that the devs would have to completely rewrite the graphics pipeline to support there being 2 or more simultaneous camera instances? If I remember correctly, multiseat was put in because it was fairly easy to do while still granting some multiplayer. I think we will see splitscreen local play at some point, well before we see true online play.
I assume from your syntax that the apostrophe is a more exotic pet, since you don't seem to use them.
My pets tend to die quick; I'm not a good care taker. I once forgot to feed my gold fish for weeks. He ate my betta fish.
