So ive been trying to fold again, but then i remembered why i stopped...my computer keeps BSOD'ing when i fold. The temps are under controll, usually when i get the actual blue error screen it says something about a memory error. However the most recent few crashes are just random pixels and glitchy looking boxes showing up on my screen. This has been happening aobut 1.5 hours after starting the program. Does anybody have any input to help me out?? --i have been running my 290 at stock clocks, my cpu is OCd to 4.3 ghz, but the memory error and glitchy screens make me think it might be a problem with my graphics card? *eek* --ill try backing off a bit on my CPU overclock to see if that improves the situation
Do you have the BSOD code? Either way try running whocrashed. The GPU might also be dying. EDIT: Ninja'd
that sucks, but its a good thing you at least had a recent backup --thanks for the suggestion of whocrashed, ive been kinda wondering how to look at the logs... --also i backed my processor off to 4.0 ghz...the funny thing is, in my motherboard software, it said my processor was running at 4.7 when i set it to 4.3, and even now it jumps to 4.2 even though its set at 4.0. I know for a fact that my processor is unstable at 4.7 at current voltages, so i wonder if the jump to 4.7 is what ended up causing it to crash... i would hate to think my graphics card is at fault, it's the most expensive part in my system by far... it ran for a while this time, then the bsod again... heres the text from whocrashed On Mon 5/12/2014 7:58:09 PM GMT your computer crashed crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\051214-19702-01.dmp This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x75BC0) Bugcheck code: 0x50 (0xFFFFF7063FBFDE74, 0x1, 0xFFFFF800036F00D9, 0x2) Error: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA file path: C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System company: Microsoft Corporation description: NT Kernel & System Bug check description: This indicates that invalid system memory has been referenced. Not sure how much longer I'll be able to fold. Get home today and my room is 32C.. when I'm not folding it stays around 24C. D:
Holy crap. :O @junky228 I am having the same problem. Seems like an issue with entering lower power states. Try locking to your normal load voltage and see if they disappear. If they do clock back up! I am back up for now, it looks like a sector went bad and messed up some stuff. I had bumped the case so that might have done it. Doesn't look like it is irrevocable.
@bubbleawsome sorry, but what do you mean by locking to the normal load voltage? do you mean stock clocks (3.5 GHz)? --oh you mean disabling all the power saving features and whatnot?
Right. I load voltage is 1.25v then set all pstates to 1.25v. Preliminary beamng run shows 4.2 as stable. Had to shut down because storm.
Ironic thing is that is passed over. I'm up again. I might be back down soon though. This is my radar. I'm pretty much in Fort Worth.
Same here. Something like 4 inches of rain in the past 3-4 hours. :O Nothing floated away and the backyard is fine though.
Within minutes, there was 2-3 inches of water running down the curbs. This is the low side of town, but we were driving here from the high side when it started. Streets were flooded about four inches up to the center down here on the low side, backyards are swamps, etc.
Dammit. Might have another late night keeping watch on this stuff, as it seems no one else in my house is willing to do it. Ah never mind. Looks like it's gonna break up. Wouldn't hit here till tomorrow morning anyway.
I had a storm pass by here last night. Nothing major, but I love the sound of heavy rain and thunder. Unfortunately I developed appendicitis and had to go to the ER at 2 am. Just finished surgery a couple hours ago and am in a lot of pain. I'm having to stay the night at the hospital, but hopefully I'll be home tomorrow. I believe my folding is off because it was too hot in my house the other night. PC overheated and crashed when playing fc3 and watching YouTube...
to anyone who got an email or something about my help needed post...nevermind...of course right after i posted that my PPD started shooting up (had it running for an hour with no improvement, normally it jumps up after 15 seconds or so), now its normallish, which i think has to do with my lower clocked cpu
Hope you feel better soon man. Have you freed up one or two cores to allow the GPU room to breathe? The amount I love my 4670k is probably unhealthy. At 4.2Ghz I nearly tripled my FPS in all games and minecraft increased by nearly 6 times.
lol, it's the power of the TARDIS. (I also see I made your sig. I feel honored. ) I was going to post about my awesome sub-3-minute folding times at 4.2Ghz under 1.1v but I BSOD'd. Now I got this. This was going to be post 2k, but i forgot the forum doesn't count your most recent one sometimes.
