Just so folks know, The Bob (tm) has been busy tonight. Well *OK* I did spend two to three hours playing puzzle games on my 8-bit Pretendo now that I got the AC adapter for it (for 1.10$).
Turtles 2... couldn't get past the 1st boss... gave up, Tiles of Fate*, got to level 4-3, I don't think I have ever gotten that far, Tetris 2...got to level 19 on medium, yes I stink but it sure was fun!
*Tiles of Fate is like "Shisen-Sho" which is available on linux, except this has a time limit and some 8-bit chip-tunes. You can get a similar game for PC by looking up "KShisen" for Windows on sourceforge - it's all of about 400kb of a download. Get (you and your whole family) addicted to it, today; and unlike most addictions, I won't have to soon visit you in the hospital - or pay the bill (hooray, waves 'get out of hospital bills for now FREE card' like an idiot!).
I did spend a bunch of time editing the map though. Tonight I worked on grading (98% done) and building (10~20% done) the main commercial corridor, which will feature Jug-Handle intersections at most of the cross-roads, to keep left-turn crashes down. Lots of big-box stores will dot this road, and many beyond it, too. This road also links up to the airport on the other side of the mountain. This is the exit off the highway that is just past the Police Department I built not long ago. Keep in mind these shots are pretty early along.

So aside of not being any-where close to done, and the curbing doesn't line up nice at all (the curbing does, the sidewalk does NOT, will fix after the beta)... it's TEN beautiful lanes of driving/crashing pleasure. I would hope all enjoy this section when it's done and infested with greedy commerce of all kinds.
Also fixed the giant hill next to the police department...

This road goes through now, to the next exit, in-stead of dead-ending in a mound of featureless dirt. The hill is much more passive, but you'll still catch a little air (it's just more like the other hills on that road, now) if you go fast enough well past the speed limit. Keep in mind roads fade-out when they're a certain distance away. I have a grey terrain texture to fix much of that, but it's not in all places it should be yet. Bear with me here, folks. I am trying to make something developer-quality and awesome. It's taking a lot of time, more than I desired it to, but I'm loving almost all the time I spend on it. The hours go by like minutes, and I spend many hours while I am out in a day looking around, seeing what interests me 'What don't we have in BeamNG yet?' and 'What kind of roads/locations would I enjoy experiencing in the game?' other things of that nature.
So entirely, work-in-progress but I am going to make this good. I will try to wrap most of the building stuff up by mid-week and get a beta out.
This will allow me to complete most of the work on this road by the time the beta comes out - and still get the yard done (before it rains on/off for a *WEEK*).
So Wednesday or Thursday at the latest for the beta, hopefully.

I really need to figure out how the heck to make a 3 phase light and green/yellow/red left turn arrows (1. road A green left turns only, 2. road A through green, 3. road B all green, repeat). I think I know of a way... time will tell (that will come after the beta!). This wasn't all supposed to be BOLD ... stupid copy-paste!

Mr. Stingy and friends partied at Bob's house! (click for more)

Going into the cooling phase for the fall, so jet-stream will be bringing lots of weather with it. Only thing I'm super-glad for is when we get the first frost in about six-weeks, it'll get rid of the large Bald-Faced Hornets & nest in the back fence that is bigger than my head. I found it when I was about 2~4 feet from it. I cut a branch (it's in some overgrowth), heard a few bees no big deal, cut another branch, few more bees, hrmmm, snipped another bigger branch BZZZZZ!!!! *LOTS OF BEES* RUT-ROH, GIANT @#$% NEST RIGHT THERE! *tip-toes back about 10 feet slowly* *yells ZOINKS! like Shaggy and BOOKS (with the hedge clippers) making a mad dash back to the building yelling "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!" * That was NOT fun. I will chalk it up to a learning experience. They could be super-docile Potter Wasps, those won't bother you until you threaten the nest, but if they're Bald-Faced Hornets, you're toast; as they're easy to anger and have a lot more patrols that mark you if you're too close to the nest. They're both black bees so I'm staying AWAY from that thing - a nest of THIS SIZE full of late-season Hornets, Wasps, or any repeatedly-stinging bee of the such, can prove fatal. It can and likely does contain several THOUSAND bees. I won't run from a gun pointed at me (been there a few times), but I'll run from a nest of Hornets / Wasps that's bigger than my head when I'm a few feet from it.
I don't think I've ever seen a bees nest THAT big in person. It's almost a good 2 feet vertically, and about 18 inches across easily. It's not the bees themselves that bother me, it's the GIANT NEST that has me a bit concerned. Staying 6~8 feet back from the nest is usually good enough that you won't bump into any of the guarding drones - or more importantly, accidentally squash one that's in the grass near it while you're walking (they release STING ME PLEASE pheremones when smooshed). Yeah, Mr. Stingy & pals didn't look too thrilled at me finding them the first time... let's NOT have a second episode of that. Just remember the 6 foot rule, and you should be golden (but beware of nests in eaves or out-door gazebo ceilings above you, too). If you want to know where the bees are residing so you don't find out the hard way, follow them, just watch where they go. When you find a bunch, there's likely a nest nearby. Also keep in mind other bees/wasps/hornets may take up residence where Carpenter (wood-boring) bees have previously lived, so be aware. Some bees will re-use homes in following seasons (in wintering climates) but most that build paper nests will not.
Hot water + dish soap + sprayer works great for small umbrella-nests common to yellow jacket wasps, if you catch them early enough. Anything foaming/bubbly suffocates them as bees (and ants) breathe through holes in the sides of their abdomen. You don't need pest spray that's super expensive, that's more 'insurance' than necessity.
Otherwise, if you have a nest of this size, call in the professionals; then you won't have to call a coroner. Wait for the frost to get rid of it also works. By the 2nd frost, it shouldn't be nearly as hostile.
    That is all for tonight.

24 yo and never had that happen, though a bit sheltered.

Bob has mentioned before he's had some problems with a vindictive former coworker. He posted about it at one point but it's been a while since I read that post so I don't really remember what it was all about. Maybe that's what he's talking about?

Unfortunately, I'd love to say it isn't, but unless you are somewhat lucky, I'd say it's bound to happen to most sooner or later in one way or another. The gun isn't the scary part, it's the idiot holding it you have to not worry about. Just make sure they know you are not the enemy. Last time I met a felon with a gun in a dark alley, I just told him I wasn't his enemy... I come in peace, the whole deal. I asked what was a matter that put him in this way, who wronged him, he said "My girlfriend threw me out" (it was 2AM~3AM), but I said where he could go for help, minus the gun of course. Good thing is, due to diplomacy, which is much mightier than the sword, I didn't end up with a clip of 12.7mm ammunition in me that night. Heck I've had my own family members point guns at me (to which I said "Man, put that pea shooter away before you shoot up the carpet again", I was more concerned with them missing and shooting the carpet again. Carpet is expensive unless you get the 'landlord special' of the week, which is oddly almost always beige :)
No biggy, I survive like always. Had some rough spots in life where I wasn't even asking / looking for trouble but found lots of it at every turn, even from people who were supposed to be my friend, or more importantly, at-least not my enemy. It's made me a very strong person, or so I'd like to think. It has NOT however, caused me to have a closed mind. I will always keep an open mind.
Another thing is, too, with a family as good as mine, you never want for enemies.

In other, better, more positive words, yes I've been working on building my city, and getting that interchange (mostly!) finished.

Sorry I didn't have a darker blue handy at the moment. Add that to the laundry-list of TO-DO's...

Busy as always, will be turning in earlier than usual tonight, but got another 1~1.5 hours of clipping done in my yard tonight, and still haven't managed to have any more issues with the BEES. Of course in my cutting down the entire line of bushes/vines/more vines at the fence line, maybe by the time I get the last 30~35 feet to the bees, the Raspberry and Rose bushes (thorns!) will have me so sliced/cut up and gored that the bees will not think I am worth wasting time or stingers on...
Actually on 2nd thought, I'll just leave the bees alone for now. Mr. Stingy & friends (and me!) lives another day.
I don't know how I didn't get stung already the other day when I found it, I was RIGHT NEXT TO IT shaking the heck out of the bushes / fence it's on trying to pull out vines/entangled plant material.
...So yeah, will post tomorrow when I get more stuff done.
    --- Post updated ---
YES. Miles of them. I don't know if they will be connected (as it's two sections, each 2~3 miles long, each is mostly underground with some above-ground spots), but they will be there.

How much suburbs would be in this map? Bit strange question to ask at this point of the map progress, i know, but i love driving through these US suburbs and crashing vehicles there like in the Garfields Heights map.

So heads up, got some more work done. I have TWO more nights of cramming solid work in, so I can get the roads (but not all the buildings/lots) done on the commercial corridor here. Then I will package up the Beta, somewhere around 2~5am on Thursday morning, and will upload it. Then I should be releasing it on sometime Thursday. That is the plan, hopefully there's no issues.

Lots, and lots, and lots of (not parking lots but) road striping. Hours of it. I hope you'll find this as enjoyable to drive as it was enjoyable to build - and it was - lots of fun this time around. Hope you have fun getting lost around here. I will try to whip up some signs sooner than later, though - not that it'll help much until you learn the road names (they will be named and have signs!).
I think my graphics board is going down with the ship for sure. Lots of hitching with this graphics card and I'm not out of VRAM (8GB, I better @#$%ing not be!). So if you're willing to sell & ship a 1070ti/1080/Vega 56 or better 8gb card, give me a shout. Going to use this one until the magic smoke comes out, though. Not sure if this has a two or three year warranty on it, but it's getting a tad long-in-the-tooth any-who. So I will definitely be in the market some-time this fall for a new graphics board, or more likely, a used one. I knocked 5~10% off the core-clock on this one to keep it going.

Whipped up a tighter-angle curb piece in a few moments as I left the scene saved with everything I needed in it, in Maya, so I could just plug in a curve number, set it, delete the bender, and export it.
Work smarter, not harder. But I did work hard any-who, and I still haven't done my stupid lawn or angered the bees. Oops. Let's hope it's not Winter by the time I get to it.
    That is all for now.

    @VVgamer135
Oh, and about the train track, it will eventually be a nice looping track, it just isn't connected yet. It's in two long sections on each side of the main center lake the town will surround.

*Bob running off into the distant chased by angry bees, as the scene fades to black*
BZZZZZ! *POKE* "OUCH" BZZZZZ! *POKE* "OUCH" BZZZZZ! *POKE* "OUCH" BZZZZZ! *POKE* "OUCH" BZZZZZ! *POKE* "OUCH" BZZZZZ! *POKE* "OUCH" BZZZZZ! *POKE* "OUCH" ...

Oh I would have - believe-you-me, I would have, but I have absolute rubbish for a back-stop (for you civvies out there, your back-stop is where your bullets end up if they go through, or miss the target). I have either a work-shop/garage building at the neighbors or a field full of extremely expensive heads of cattle out there, beef cattle to be exact, so I don't get to watch all the milk drain out of the holes like a sprinkling can if I miss. It would be alright if I could get on the roof of the garage out back and blast it from there as the bullets would end up in the ground, but I don't think I want to be on a metal roof on a hot day, with THOUSANDS of angry hornets after me because I exploded their nest with a 40-cal round, and still be 15~25 feet in the air. Nope. No-siree. *cue the shrieking strings*

Ignore the wrong-way-facing arrow on the 10-lane divided road in 2 of the shots, it's fixed in the last shot... noticed it when I was taking shots. Oops.

So it's coming along nicely, as you can see, a block of commercial development and a Long Dong Silvers has appeared now, along with the opposite-side jug-handle for all turns off the main route. The only turning allowed on this road is at the interchanges with the highway, otherwise, you have to merge right off the road and make a series of right or left turns to get to your destination.
Only another day or two until you get to get lost in this mess, too, if you're on for the Patreon Beta. More progress will come after the beta upload which will be on/about Thursday.

    TO-DO's
Put AI in this mess. It will be preliminary, but it will be here.
Finish striping this main road up to the end of it enough for the beta.
Fix any goofy AI or collision bugs that come up.

This looks like it's coming along great, seems like it's gonna come out roughly the time I've finished procuring a better PC so that's super convenient.

OK. Found with a few textures and re-declare issues and fixed the two NO_TEXTURE's on the gas station roof/shed part of the store model. Also fixed the no_texture due to missing texture on the house foundation, and also fixed an entire MISSING store, in the first shot below (that's only been missing 4~6 months now, oops). Car is parked where the store was missing. It's back now.

So entirely finished off another few spots (and deleted the extra commercial-zone place-holder), and getting this ready for the next Beta which is going up tonight.

So provided all is well with the internet for the next few hours, the next beta is only hours away. There may be a few AI bugs or glitches, but nothing too murderous.
There aren't any traffic lights in the new area yet here. I didn't get that far, and that would have pushed the beta back another evening, so sorry if that disappoints for a bit.
I will be testing the AI for a bit and then uploading. So expect to hear something in a few hours, failing that, in roughly 12 hours from now.

I'm still rooting for the hilarious business names that are to come. I've got a few of my own too...

    Chuck-Ur-Kids instead of Chuck-E-Cheese

Dumb Depot instead of Home Depot

    Walnuts instead of Walgreens?

    PMS instead of CVS

Crappy Tuesday instead of Ruby Tuesday

The progress is looking great so far, the roads are hands down the best part, the amount of detail you've put in is superb.

    Chuck-ur-Kids is great, haha.
I had a birthday party there back around 90~92 or so, and some of the kids I invited from my school (stuck up brats) were joking until they went - jokes on them it was the biggest/best arcade in town there. They all had a blast. I didn't care if I got serenaded by a fat rat, I got lots of free cash to put in the arcade machines, and in the late 80s ~ early 90s, that was golden man. Back at school the next day it was all rave reviews. I said 'yeah if you can look past the Rodent of Unusual Size, the arcade is where it's at'. IIRC it was just before Street Fighter 2 was out, or just as it was coming out. So entirely, even if your kid is 10~11 years old or so like I was, it's a totally awesome option if you don't mind putting out the dough. It'll keep them busy for a few hours and you can play some arcades too (if they still have it - haven't been in one since then!).
PMS - I was going to save that for the Package Mashing Service, but that could possibly be for something else. Nothing like getting into an accident because PMS... makes an illegal left turn.

Walgreens (TM) will be MALLGREENS, Drugstore convenience at MALL prices, featured in Roane County.

Entirely 100% for certain most all the goofy store names from Roane County will return to this map, as they're hysterical. Short of road signage, "if it's not funny, it's not a sign worth making"! I've actually just had someone a night or two ago just tell me how much they chuckle when they see some of the names, and it always brings their mood up some, which is why I do it. In-fact, Worst-Buy will likely be going into the spot right by the gas station and freeway in the new commercial area I just built. There will be a WALMART knock-off 'Sprawl-Mart' behind the strip malls and such where the road dead-ends after the four-way stop. The map also lacks any better dining experience than Burger World or Long Dongs / Chicken Munch. Regardless of how much fun it is to look at someone and say 'Bird Murder', sometimes you just need better. Maybe a TGI Fried Food, DinDins, Bob's Fat Kid, Ruby Rubbish or The Tea Pit is in order. Maybe I spent too many hours playing Yoshi's Cookie, but we seriously need some GOOD food here in Los Injurus while we wait for the tow truck, which seems to be running late or very busy for some reason.

ROAD DETAIL. That's capitalized for good reason. It's a driving game, if you don't detail the roads - you shouldn't be making a map for a driving game (not being mean, just being 100% blunt and honest). This is where we spend most of our time driving, of course, short of some off-roading or cruising around the airport where cars should not be. Thank-you for noticing. I still have much more detail to do, so in due time they'll look even better, as I was really pressed for time at the end there. I'd rather have simplified buildings a bit and very detailed roads, as it's not an FPS, it's a driving game. Why waste all the time making super fancy buildings when 98% of the time it's the road that's the center of attention? That being said, an occasional building with interior, or otherwise things like the mall you can enter and the subway system aren't out of the question, even if you're NOT supposed to drive in there.

In other news, while I was cramming that map update out, my house has gone to heck in a handbag, my lawnmower couldn't bear anymore and lost a bearing (luckily they're super-duper common ones shared across much equipment, to the point I think I will keep them in stock), so my lawn is STILL NOT DONE (yes, was planning on doing it Sunday-Monday sometime, so when I did it, it went 50 feet and broke down and then it rained, and POURED). God must have been watching and been like 'Hrmm, breaking the darn thing didn't stop him, that idiot, I'll show him' *torrential rain and storms*.
So it might be quiet for the next few days other than acknowledging bug reports (if any, surely there's a couple I missed), as I catch up on other things that really need some doing.

    --Cheers!
