Very interesting It's soo obvious that thing is gonna dismantle itself hitting a bump EVERY new German car will be a .50 on the butt to mantain/repair/actually working out how the fuck to do anything in it (can't say the same about VWs). But BMWs take the cake for being incredibly electric (if you know what I mean...), and a wallet drainer. Good cars, just too complex
Well, after 10 years of us owning it, the Chrysler has started to have problem after problem. It is at Pep Boys as I type. My parents want a sedan, what are some good (used) ones?
It's the German condition. Treating everything as an engineering contest, leading to complication for its own sake. Now, granted, sometimes that leads to good things i.e. BeamNG, but it's not always the best idea when applied to real-life cars. As far as I know both the first DCT race car and the first throttle-by-wire road car were German, for example. UPDATE: I can't believe I just found this series. I also found something interesting in the first video: Note what he says about left-foot-braking and throttle cuts. Just another reason to hate throttle by wire I guess.
I've seen a number of people online complaining that the new Mazda3 looks nothing like the Kai concept, so I put some comparison pics together. Personally I don't think I've ever seen any other concept that looks so close to the production version.
Seems all the changes went into making it not look like a stupid Tesla. I'm still not a fan - it looks like it is trying to be an SUV.
From the looks of it, the only things they changed are the things required to make a sensible car, plus any global homologation things like the lights. Less flared fenders, not putting exhausts in the middle of the bumper, rims that won't buckle every time you hit a slight bump in the road, suspension travel, door handles that work, bigger rear window so that the driver can actually see etc...
I can see the similarities too. The Kai to me looks like it has more exaggerated features than the production model, like the thin headlights, smaller mirrors, fancier rims, a more streamlined body, and that sportier looking exhaust region. The rear design I think is the most similar to each other.
Ah shit, here we go again. Worst car in the world? I'll hit you with two. Pontiac Sunbird: A poorly-made, poorly-styled mess that was the end of real Pontiacs. Anemic four and six cylinder engines mated to awful transmissions and a body with the quality of a Yugo that sat at the bottom of the Mariana trench. Also FWD because god left us many years ago and gets paraded around by people who own them as a "sports" car even though this car has never heard the concept of sport in it's life. Also who the flying hell styled this and said "Ah yes this is fine." Other car: Anything built on the Trailblazer platform. (Prepare for JTA to make another alt and brigade the forum again.) The TrailBlazer/Rainier/Bravada/Some saab idk/Envoy/some other crap platform is a disgrace of the SUV name. Woefully bad suspension and basically no traction means that it's about as competent offroad as a Sunbird, and every version (Except the bravada) seemed to be either absolutely disgusting to lay eyes upon or bland as white bread. Only use is the 277 horse straight six crammed under the hood, they're reliable and cheap and the aluminium 5.3 that cranked out 303 HP. Both some decent engines.

Today this car was returned after its very first rental with 1700 miles, a cracked windshield, a front end plastered with bugs, and a mysterious lack of new car smell. I don't know how the new car smell completely dissipated after 10 days but not even a single whiff of it remains. The life of a rental car.
"Eh, it's not mine." I can attest to the fact that I have that mentality with rental cars as well. Jumped a Kia Soul once. Beat the shit out of an Elantra for a month after a kid hit my last Mustang with his Camry. That Elantra really was a bucket of fun, though... For a family car, anyway. The Soul was pretty okay. Once had a Nissan Altima with a CVT. I wanted to blow it up. Terrible.
