buT tHeYr'E a DiffRENt fRAme dEsigN Seriously though, it rounds up the original promised list and it's another traffic car. Sure it isn't the most versetile traffic car, but whatever.
Yeah, it does round out the list and add another traffic car, but the Wendover should differ GREATLY from the concept model. Smaller wheelbase and a coupe bodystyle would work. A cool thing to do would be to implement a wagon variant. Also, less of a cheese shape. DEFINITELY less of a cheese shape.
Since it's confirmed that the Wendover is going to be a coupe, it'd be really cool to see a shooting brake variant, even if it isn't exactly realistic. (Maybe it'd make a good mod.) I would also say it'd be cool to see coupe and sedan body styles like the Bluebuck, but we already have the LeGran for that. Also, I agree with zestyfolfdude, the original concept render for the Wendover had terrible proportions. The wedge shape goes far too narrow in the front, and it barely looks like you could fit an engine in there. While gabe generally hasn't changed the shape of the cars from render to ingame (barring his remodeling of half the cars), I did notice the I-series originally curved downward in the front a bit more. Hopefully, that means the Wendover can be "fixed."
yeah, but when this comes out, ill use the wendover way more then the legran. so if it has both, that would be awesome. maybe a stockcar config, they did so well with the bluebuck, so i trust the devs to take this not really anticipated car and make it great.
First of all, stock cars are never FWD. Second, by the 1980s, stock cars were so different from actual stock cars that the devs would need to make an entirely different body for it to be accurate (and again, it would still be FWD).
Again this? People already said what are the problems with Wendover and LeGran - both are too similar in design (and probably in performance too), both are from 80s, both are FWD and not pretty. LeGran have one purpose - to be smashed in the crash and occasionally used for cruising on the map. There is no banger race version, no drag version, offroad, wagon, anything. What people are afraid that Wendover will end up like LeGran and for many it looks like wasted resources, time and opportunity to get something different. HOWEVER, because it is so generic, it is perfect "traffic vehicle". And because of that we might not see anything similar too quickly.
Considering the fact every vehicle in game older than about a year has received or will receive a remodel, it is highly likely that the wendover we get will look very little like the preview, other than in basic design. The Bluebuck did end up surprisingly similar to it's concept design, but it also had a much less problematic design in the first place.
Mechanically, it's almost completely different. It will be significantly bigger and will have independent rear suspension. The only things likely to be shared are the front subframe and powertrain. The Roamer has the same powertrain and frame (not just the subframe, it shares the entire chassis) as the D-series - should it be removed?
I actually don't think the LeGran and the Wendover are too similar. One's a midsize sedan and the other's a full-size coupe. Like vmlinuz said, they're a bit like the D-Series and Roamer. My only problem is with the unrealistic shape of the Wendover. And remember, this is only the second full-size coupe we'll be getting, the other being the Bluebuck (if you don't count the Bolide, which I don't).
the roamer vs. dseries argument is worthless. and, for that matter, so is the "Traffic car" one. We need traffic cars, no doubt. However, I can't remember the last time I saw an early 80's American car of any sort in traffic, let alone a Wendover or LeGran equivalent. We need a fairly modern American fullsize and a mid-00's Japanese/Korean crossover if we really want to flesh out the current vehicle linuep for realistic traffic use. Even those are barely scratching the surface- we're forgetting about a modern Covet/Pessima/Roamer/Barstow etc.
To my basic understanding, the Wendover's really just going to share the engine with the LeGran and maybe some suspension bits. I highly doubt that it's going to have the slightly rushed feel that the LeGran has, which would be sort of nice to have a high quality car that's just totally normal. I'm sure that the devs have some sort of ace up their sleeves with it, since the past few vehicles have all been extremely detailed and offered something new (proper air suspension for Wentward, baja beast for Autobello, lowrider for Bluebuck), and in a fairly nonexistant segment (80s American Fullsize FWD Coupes), they can probably use quite a bit of creativity with it as well (Convertible?), leading me to believe that the Wendover will actually be something to look forward to.
*laughs in rural Minnesotan* I have to say it is a little bizarre having immaculate cars from the 80s through early 00s ingame. You do see a lot of older Buick sedans and Chevy Silverados in the midwest, especially so as you get further out from cities, but they're hardly in showroom condition. They've survived this long, but they're not yet to the point of being worth anything, or worth restoration. Some 'average wear and tear' variants might be nice for cars that fall into this category. It's not really something I expect soon, but something I want, and something that we're slowly working towards with more beater type of configs.
That would be interesting to see. I think it'd help give the Wendover some personality. Of course, I'd still petition to include the sedan alongside the coupe, especially now since the Bluebuck delivered four body variants. I hope that's what they'll do, but I'm not counting on it. Along with that, I'd still love to see the Wendover include an electronic voice alert system. You know, something akin to this.
Well, game is set in 2019-20 but most maps also fits to 90s or 00s as well (if we forget about electric stations and commercials). Right now majority of the cars are from 80s and 90s... another issue for me - game set in 2019 with few cars from that time period.
i am excited for the wendover, if just so i have a "legran" shaped car i want to use. for me, the legran is the most forgettable car, to the point that i think of the wendover before the legran. i know the devs will make it great, because they put so much effort in the bluebuck, and i think it is perfect to let the devs show what they can do.
I'm hoping that the devs could surprise us with a convertible option for the Wendover when it's released. It could potentially be the first official convertible in-game (or second, if the Hopper counts as a convertible).
Better Ambient+Exhaust Sounds/Physics There's been some comments, including the above from TDK, about interior sounds which make me think proper convertibles are off the table until the audio system gets improved.
Is it possible to make a police skin for the Gladiator/Coronet sedan? having a police skin for that version would make more sense then the 2 door version
