Why is Beamng so picky about mods?

I've been having a stupid amount of trouble reskinning the van. I downloaded a random reskin of the van and tested it just to make sure it worked. It did. Then, I simply replaced the reskin .dds file with my own, and now the mod doesn't even show up. Why!? It's the same resolution, has the same name, and is in the exact same location.
I then tested to see what would happen If I just pasted something inside the zip and deleted it immediately. The mod showed up, but the skin didn't work! What's the deal with this? I didn't even change anything about the zip file!

Can you post the materials.cs code? Maybe its formatting

 

BeamNG is a computer program.
it requires precision.
If you cannot tolerate trial and error then modding is not for you.

I guess BeamNG is just really picky about how the zip is packed, because I tried packing it with winrar and it finally showed up in game.
