The reason that they are nearly the same length is that the D-series and Roamer have an identical chassis. In fact, you used to have to select the roamer from the D-series vehicle selector.

The fact that the mods discussed recently are designed to work well with features "in the next update" indicates that the update may be coming soon. We could see it next week potentially.

Yeah, the D-series and Roamer are pretty similar to each other. The Roamer does have a different body style obviously, but I think you are right about the Roamer and D-series having an identical chassis.

I'm not sure whether or not the update will come out next week, but hopefully the update will come out by Christmas time.

The difference in body styling can be attributed to the difference in year, the D-Series' first model year is 4 years earlier than the Roamer's. That still leaves some overlap in the two generations, but automakers can be weird sometimes so whatever.

As for the update, it would be shocking if this is not out by Christmas. It shouldn't be as big as 0.15 was so I doubt we will see any major delays. Between how important this time of year is for big releases and how long it's been since 0.17, it's safe to say we will see it before then. Also, I saw someone on the internet claim a staff member at SEMA said the comp Hopper will be out by Christmas.

It was literally a random comment on one of their instagram posts. Not really important though, clearly the comp Hopper is done since it was shown off at SEMA and if we don't see a major update between 0.17.1 and Christmas then something odd must've happened, so that one comment doesn't add anything significant to the conversation.

Honestly, the "Graphics Update" seems like the ideal time to implement proper night driving and weather effects, two things the game has desperately needed for years, however I don't think it's very likely they will add them. I would love to be surprised though.

by "proper night driving" do you mean light pollution or headlights that actually can light up a considerable distance?

Proper headlights, buildings with lights that come on at night, working lighting (streetlights, tunnels, spotlights, etc), and sunrises/sunsets that actually look decent.

I've been thinking about that new modern SUV that's been rumored and teased. If diamondback is just now working on suspension and drivetrain setups, I doubt we will get it with the next update if it comes as soon as we'd all like. He said in his post "none of this is finished in any way ... I'm not sure yet when all of this will be released". So it's likely they still have a lot of work to do on it and it won't ship anytime soon.

If the suspension components in the modern SUV is as fragile as the ETK800 I would rather drive the Roamer.

Modern SUV's are generally not much stronger than tissue paper, unless of course you look at the largest models available but even then they break real easy too

In terms of safety, modern SUVs are mostly safer than older ones. However in terms of ruggedness, durability, and overall toughness, yeah a lot of modern ones can't really live up to that. However there are still a few "worthy" ones around, such as the land cruiser, wrangler, ect (maybe the new bronco too, but we have to wait and see about that).
As for the new car coming this update, I personally doubt it unless it's something completely unexpected.

The problem is modern safety tests does not reflect real-world driving scenerios. They just slam the vehicles on to a immoble, rigid wall. I didn't mean that modern crash tests are bad, they are good because of consistency, all test subjects are crashed to the same wall. The problem is at 40mph all vehicle will be destroyed regardless of safety or ruggedness. This is actually equivalent to 80mph rear ending a 0mph vehicle at freeway without any braking before impact, which is very unlikely to happen. Because of the wall is rigid, the heavier the vehicle, the worse the result, the opposite is true in real-world driving situation. The result of the crash test criteria is modern vehicles often lower their weight (and rigidity) to improve the test score. They are good to protect the driver and passengers in 80mph rear ending a 0mph but will be destroyed even the crash speed is 10mph. If this trend is left uncontrolled, modern vehicles will become more or less disposables.

Modern vehicles should do some scored rigidty test such as pothole hitting, bottoming out, curb hitting and some 5-10mph crash repair cost evaluations.

On topic: maybe a modern cannon
