i have to ask, when you use the thumbnail generator, does it take thumbnails in the whiteroom now and not the black one or whatever it used to be? --- Post updated --- EDIT: nope it doesnt devs, can we get an option to select between light and dark maps?
My notes about 0.18: Major visual improvements! I took those four images on "High" graphics with dynamic reflection - all the while getting 60 FPS. I would have thought they were renders just a few updates ago. Tip: if your graphics don't look better, go to the graphics settings and choose one of the quality presets. This will start you off with a clean slate so you can readjust your own settings. A lighting bug which had pestered me for far too long (lighting LoD unnecessarily dropping depending on camera angle) has been fixed at last. Performance is somewhat improved as well, although this could be down to map optimizations or the fact that I have a monster computer. The short wheelbase D-series needs a camper shell so I can make lame, predictable O.J. jokes. Judging from the slot around the bed area, I would guess that one is planned, possibly even for the next update. It needs stock front bucket seats so people can get in and out, and a cool name as well.
This is a good update! The dev team is really delivering on their promises for high-level customizability - The D-series is now incredibly customizable (I wonder if anyone has run the numbers on how many possible combinations of parts there are), and I'm seeing things I've wanted for a long time! There's the chrome rollbar (available in both single and double bar ), new, deeply-customizable front grille arrangements, lights mounted on rollbars and bullbars, chrome STX wheels, spoilers mounted on the bed cover … and I'm not even certain that I've scratched the surface. And the Long Box? I'm speechless. I know how hard that must have been to get in-game, but the team still chose to bring it in and fulfill a longstanding community request! That deserves a big round of applause. The integrated body is a nice surprise too - I can't wait to see where that is going. There is two more part that I'd like to see brought in-game in the next phase of D-series overhaul because I think they would complement a lot of the other '90s-era custom truck parts: 1. Cab Spoiler/Cab Fairing Sometimes sold under the trademarked name 'racerback', these small fiberglass pieces were everywhere in the late-eighties to mid-nineties, from the neighbor's driveway to the monster truck rally. They fit onto the bed, and some appear to have been designed to fit over rollbars or to allow the mounting of lights. 2. Cab Visor A cousin to the one mounted on the T-series, the Visor completes the look set by the Fairing. They tend to be available both with and without lights. As for bugs this update, I have only found a single one so far: The 'Rusty' skin is no longer playing nicely with Extended and Crew cab trucks. On the other hand, it does seem to be fully functional with the long bed.
Some mods get hit due to outdated textures. Like this one: https://www.beamng.com/resources/raven-r60.6875/ It spawns with an uncolorable white body.
0.18.1 only from here on https://blog.beamng.com/minor-update-v0-18-1-released/ (we simplified the versioning to be easier to follow, in case you were wondering)
I'm referring to the new Blazer-like bed/body combo, not just the regular truck. The regular truck has a camper shell.
Got only one persisting bug after the .1 update fixed most of my complaints: The Barstow's engine still makes a sort of popping noise (even in safe mode) at around 1000RPM when you're giving it gas, but only if you have a blower installed (using a carb it doesn't have the issue).
In terms of computer generated images (such as screenshots) jpg is less efficient than png. At a given resolution png and jpg have similar size (sometimes png is even smaller), and jpg has very strange artifacts. In a jpg screenshot pixels around the edges of a vehicle is often "soaked", in other words, pixels aren't "independent" to pixels around them. --- Post updated --- If you hit the gas in a D15 off-road (or other less/not muffled vehicle), you can hear the SBR4 DCT upshift noise after initial afterfire.
The Humble Bundle link says it's 0.18.1 but when I go to download it it's still 0.18.0. --- Post updated --- Never mind. They updated it.
From when 0.18 happened, the D-Series/Roamer etc. now have received that steering wheel slop in the neutral position just like the Grand Marshal after its rework, which makes it somewhat odd to drive on roads or trails that don't have sharp turns as you have to turn the steering wheel more than you should. Turning the steering wheel this much... ...results in almost no turning of the actual wheels, where as before they would turn properly
d-series skinsupport is still weird, which is strange, cause in 0.17 it didnt just doulbe the roof texture for the crew cab
Ive replicated this on two computers, one of them a fresh install. Does it look as it should when ive hit Debug twice? I repeat it twice in the vid since it lagged when i hit Enable PostFx the first time.
