I noticed that it disappeared after something happened to Mr Crash. I don't know the details but I think it was an accident of some kind that he was involved in.
If I am not mistaken, he said he would release this mod as soon as it was ready for release. Maybe he meant end of next year, who knows? He should take all the time he needs to finish it, and not work on it overtime just so we get to use it sooner. I'd rather have a well made, high quality mod with as less bugs as possible and lots of configs, than an unfinished one just because it had to be ready before some deadline.
He said, that he tries to release it, before this year ends. But he also said, that theres the chance that that wont happen. As you say, he should take the time he needs. Many models arent completely done yet I guess, so even if he finishes end of next year, its no problem for most of everyone. I wish everyone a happy new year!
Hey man, so i i know that this is a long shot since they use different chassis (i think) But is it possible to make the small and short day cab variants with 180-260hp? They use teeny tiny wheels which is super cute. Also, could you possibly release the wheels you use as a standalone mod? I would love to use eu style wheels on for example the bus or the t series lol. Oh well i guess that they actually have sleeper cab versions. Huh.
TGM is the biggest that has the 6-lug wheels (which i agree they look cute lol) and i dont really know how different the chassis is compared to this TGS yes this is sorta promotion but this is a small vid of the 8x4 mixer, for anyone interested as to how it behaves and how it sounds im personally not a huge fan of the sound though (if theres anyone here who could help with adding fmod custom sound [which i have the samples for] please pm me)
Why does the U.I. say that it has drum brakes? As far as I know most modern trucks have disc brakes. I don't know in the case for the MAN TGS but other european cabovers (like the TGX) for sure have disc brakes, especially ones designed to handle heavy loads. Maybe look in to it? For the record, These can be specified with both. Drums are usually used for tipper and construction purposes; and discs for road vehicles, tho drums can be used.
Yeah I found that out while digging a little deeper. Seems a tad odd to choose drums for the heaviest duty braking as they are more susceptible to brake fade, due to the inherent design of drums making them harder to cool, but I guess the engineers decided it works better. Perhaps they can fit more material in the shape of the drums (this could be because the construction/offroad versions usually come with smaller diameter wheels, further limiting the space where a disc could go), giving a larger brake pad to drum area, which would increase effectiveness. The larger drums would also have a higher thermal mass, but overall it would have to come down to the calculations to see which is better when factoring in cost, operating conditions, and performance.
Large trucks are prone to being used with old designs, I mean most of them are still using straight sixes instead of V engines, even though V engines make more torque and aren't as long.
I don't want to derail the thread, however, there are advantages to the inline 6 layout, such as it being naturally harmonically balanced. This means it runs smoother and does not need heavy counterweights in the crankshaft. The use of fewer cylinders also leads to less internal friction between the pistons and cylinder walls, making it more efficient. There is also less complexity with the i6, as there is only one bank of cylinders, one head gasket, etc. making it more reliable and easier to maintain. The drawback of the engine being longer than a v8 does not really matter as there is plenty of space in the chassis of a truck. There is a reason most trucks have an i6 (excluding some new Scanias, almost all large trucks have only an i6 option) and it is not only because it is what we used in the past. Mercedes is also moving from the v6 to i6 in their passenger cars, showing that the layout is worth it, even nowadays.
I was talking about a V-6 not a V-8, but I get you. The reliability thing isn't really accurate when you take into account the fact that the piston is pushing almost directly down on the crank, as opposed to at an angle. This means two things. 1, the crank is going to go adios much sooner and 2, there's significantly less torque.
I mean that I'd like something a bit more like this: (that TGX has the same engine as in the 420-500hp TGS')
