The new AWD stuff looks so cool, I love seeing modern technology and driving features being put into this game. I'm also in love with the rollers, they look like such a fun tool to play with and the auto adjust feature is awesome. I hope we get those in the release.

What this thread is completely missing is that, like always, the car that is implemented into the game has a direct relation with something else added. In this case, they are revamping fake AWD that is so prevalent in modern cars, and more interestingly, in sports compacts like the A45 and the RS3.

With that teaser, and the AWD system previews, it is looking very likely that we may be getting a "Focus RS" segment vehicle. Which I am quietly excited about.

To each its own cup of tea, some like X, others like Y: the game covers so many aspects of vehicle simulation that it spreads across a vast and varied audience, so it's quite a natural outcome.
Some likes the technical stuff, other just car about launching a new vehicle into a wall. Everybody can get its own fun in there.
Let's just not minimize the work and effort being put behind new features for which you may not be interested (which as usual, requires lot of time spent on research) :)

Yea, that's why the rollers aren't actually rollers in jbeam. :)

I noticed they looked odd, are they just two angled surfaces with very low friction coefficients or is there more going on?

Kinda like that, yea, a bit more than just two surfaces but the idea is the same, yes.

looks like you need more lateral grip on the rollers. endless wheelspin is fine of course, but sliding side to side with no sign of stopping obviously isn't realistic.

It's so pleasant to see staff members answer to messages so often, it makes the game development even more transparent and it's kinda reassuring to see it (I still miss our beloved tdev :D). I love you devs <3 <3

Yea we can't do that, you can't have a groundmodel per direction or something like that.

Alright another thing that just popped into my mind is that we are still missing tire thermals! Are those still on the horizon? It seems like the missing link on polishing the simulation aspect

May need to refine the tire structures more before that happens. Right now there's only two possible points of contact, in each right where the tread meets a sidewall, which would likely also be the only places thermal data could be tied to; to the best of my knowledge this is not enough to support a useful tire-thermal system.

i have been thinking and i think the next car probebly 0.20 or 0.21 will be a old 1930's some where around that age car.
    reasons are :
the last car update with a totaly new car was the blue buck.
before that we got an electric srb4.
and before that we've the autobello picollina.
and we have been asking for something old for a long time.

i needed to get this idea out there so good luck with this kinda information

(sorry for my bad english i am tired af):)

    This is the next car:

If anything that pattern shows the next car will be a newer one (old-new-old), which happens to be what we're getting. Also, it's debatable whether or not the eSBR was a "totally new car."
    Who's this "we?"
