Update Speculation thread

He has used strange platforms in the past, but those were all just tossing something WIP onto an existing platform as a test bed. GM for drivetrain, 800-Series for linelock. But there's no i5 in the public release of the game. Which means he went out of his way to use that sound for no apperent reason other than
A) There's a WIP i5
B) He was just messing with us

IMO they are equally likely options.

Some new-ish European hatchbacks do use i5/VR6 engines, so if this new brand is European then it is a possibility.

 

The ford focus Rs from 2009 did have a I5 engine which makes the idea not a half baked as it seems.

 

On the other hand, the Mk3 had a turbo four, and the upcoming Mk4 is rumored to have a turbo four hybrid powertrain.

 

An I5 in the RR car wouldn't really surprise me, it would simply continue the trend of new vehicles showcasing unprecedented solutions for the game.

I5 and hybrid tech...?

 

The current TTRS and RS3 use a 2.5 liter turbo I5.

 

hmm, on the topic of the phase 2 d series revamp...

NASCAR D series?
(this may be a bit far fetched, but considering how far removed the hoppler is from the standard hopper, it might almost be possible?)

That's cool and all, but I was hoping to see the "RR" car... you think it was scrapped?

Some small things making the game look that much better, so exiting to see what more graphics inprovments that will be added,

And no the "RR" thing isn't cancelled, he's just playing with us. If it was cancelled, the teaser would already have been removed.

 

That looks spectacular! Or should I say specular? I know it's not the best pun, but it's what I've got.

In all seriousness, it's really nice to see lighting improved. It's currently a bit immersion-breaking, so more realistic-looking headlights and lightbars will go a long way, along with the sun.

Is there anything hidden in the lightbar teaser? Nighttime + DOF makes it hard to see.

As for the new car, it'll probably get police and rally options to show off the lightbars.
