If I keep up with actually folding I'll break 3m in ~4 days. My ppd will drop in the summer though because we (me and 2 siblings) will not be in school. No school=gaming. Actually encoding >50GB of Doctor Who right now from .avi to .mkv so my Blu-Ray player will read it.
Uh. Couldn't you just stream Dr Who on Netflix? Anyway, I put my computer back together but it wouldn't fully boot. It just kept shutting off and it got to the point where it shut off a second after I hit the power button. I opened the side panel and looked around. I felt the water block and it was really hot so I waited a bit then went into the BIOS and found that my CPU was at 70C and climbing. Apparently I had unplugged the AIO pump when I was tidying up my case. It all works just fine now. In a quick CrystalDiskMark test I get 80MBs read and 100MBs write.
We don't have netflix. .-. CPU is chugging along at 80c and 4.3Ghz though. It's 90% done after 3 hours 30 minutes. Not shabby. (I wish I had a SSD. Current drive is a bit of a sluggard, copying this all to USB takes a long time on a USB 3.0 stick. Lucky to get 10Mb/s)
80c? Wow.. I would not do that.. (Especially not for a long period of time.) And, why not get Netflix? It's 8 bucks a month and TOTALLY worth it. The worst part is when I get done marathonning all the episodes of a show and I have no idea what to watch next. (Currently watching Psych and halfway through Lost.) Also, 10MB/s on USB 3.0? My USB stick on 2.0 can do faster than that..
I consider it fairly safe. Cores are actually at 77/77/79/70 as their max. I don't expectch better out of haswell at 1.26v and my t40. I would delid but no insurance. As for netflix, my mom will not get it and I don't have a way to pay for it. (Or money really.) To your sneaky edit, my HDD is slow.
Ah okay. Before I actually had enough money to pay for Netflix I just created a new email/Paypal and started a Netflix free trial with it (I think I used a Visa gift card with the Paypal accounts) and then used it for the month. I did this for a few months.. And with that hardware, you can't afford a SSD or a couple HDDs?
I'm bad with computers (see sig) so to add something constructive to this conversation... I have a pet cat. His name is Beow (long story). He kinda showed up in my backyard one-day, and was sorta about to die. We took him to the vet and fixed him up. We think he may be a Siberian cat, but it is hard to tell. Here is a picture of him on my bed. Sent from my Droid Incredible 2 using Tapatalk 2
Ooh, a cat. I like cats. I wish I had a cat. Nope, sure can't. The 770 was a Christmas gift that I put some money towards and I spent the rest of my money on the 4670k and mobo. EDIT: These are my speeds. - - - Updated - - - We are only ~30 teams away from the people over at ROR. Their graph looks surprisingly similar to ours.
This morning my computer wouldn't boot. It got stuck on the Windows logo and it did the same thing with the old HDD and the Windows disk. After an hour or so I gave up and went to watch Netflix on my netbook and a little while ago I realized that I've had the exact problem before and the cause was the USB plugs. (For some reason it doesn't boot into any OS with the USB plugs plugged into certain ports.) It took me over 4 hours to figure that out.
Today I realized that I could run 2 295x2s. My mobo supports crossfire and I have 2 PCI-e slots. 6 120/140mm fans too. That means I could water cool my CPU too on a 240mm rad. I need money.
My SSD just arrived!!!! I got the PNY XLR8 Pro 120GB, its seems pretty fast compared to my wd black hdd, what sucks though is having to reinstall everything from my 'old' installation
I love PNY. They seem to have great products in my experience. You. .-. My little brother and sister just started watching dr who too. I listened to Amy's theme and made myself sad. Then Tennant's theme. Feels.
great, thats good to know. my friend told me they were good, and it was an amazing deal, and ive been wanting as ssd, so i went for it. My only experience with pny was a flashdrive that i got in 3rd grade, 128MB, case fell apart but the drive works fine still
lil ol me 'tis this: http://www.anandtech.com/show/6553/sandisk-ultra-plus-ssd-review-256gb Obviously, it's not the best drive there is, but what can beat it for $49?
Everyone has been telling me to get an ssd. I actually might be able to get one though. I have $50 on a frys giftcard, so that should get me one big enough for windows and a few games.
I checked. .-. It's not. It looks like a 30-60GB one for $60. A 512GB one costs 1,500 at my store?! What? Seems like their pricing is stuck in 2012. EDIT: There is one of a brand I've never heard of. Anyone know about it? http://www.frys.com/product/7294963?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
I'm pretty sure that I've got a surge protector and a load of cables from them, not the most high tech of things, but they've never let me down. Couldn't tell you what their SSD's are like though. EDIT: Guess there not the same company, ignore anything I said...
