I'm not sure if there is another post for this, because I searched. Are you putting automated cars that are made to drive in a straight line by itself in the game? For those without internet connection. That turn off on impact. And can I start the automated car in drive so I can T-bone, hit head on and pit those cars? And even being able to place 2 auto cars facing each other that drive on command.
I've seen things like that modded for GTA IV, so we'll probably see it, if not made by the devs made by somebody.

That being said, traffic and multiple controlled cars as OP is suggesting should definitely be in, but yeah it was shown in the video and can probably be done through a simple script.
AI will be possible AFAIK, just control the car's parameters with a lua script, right? And the driving in the video is the simplest level of AI, to the point where it's just a interface, without any actual AI.
Should be very easy to accomplish with Lua. You can already get input "stuck on" a vehicle by switching to the next vehicle so it'll drive in a straight line or do donuts by itself indefinitely. I coded an experimental "murderous AI" a while ago in Lua that constantly tries to ram the player, and is even smart enough to reverse into you when appropriate or stop and back up and ram you again. It's kinda funny seeing it repeatedly ram your disabled car
Right now it's not functioning well because of some changes we've made to the input system, but when it is working I'll try to record a video.
Sweet. I normally don't ask for that videos and such but how you described it made me chuckle pretty damn hard, would be something entertaining to watch. Maybe have it around the race track and have the car chase you, see how long it takes for you to mess up or the AI to mess up. We've seen the input system being used in the previous videos, I think it'd be fun to watch something you can just let loose and do for fun. Would show some of the capabilities of the game. Even if you're not planning it in final release you could market it as a point to show how you could do things like that.
What if you had a bunch of them in an area that you nor they are not allowed to get out of and try to last as long as you can in there. Or have a box that only non npc players can enter or exit and have a gauntlet style where you have to make it to the other end, I don't know about you but that looks pretty fun
We are easily impressed. You could upload a 15 minute unedited video of you goofing of and we would be satisfied for a couple of months. (This may not apply to everyone on the forum.)
You know, there are also 3 other Devs that sit next to Gabester in a room with system link. That early on in development, Chances are, AI cars were not created yet.
I still think there should be this with a bunch of d15s or vansters trying to ram a covet that's trying to get to the end of the gauntlet.
Well that's cool to know actually. Thanks for telling me that. Anyways, auto cars, since I sometimes don't have the connection to play with other people. I would love to crash into automatic moving cars.
That great, and maybe like 3 auto cars can go at once and chase me, no matter where i go, like follow cars or cops and robbers. I would love to be pitted out by an AI car.
