Little Island So many of you may allready know me from RoR, and to be honest I really don't know anything about Cryengine. This terrain has nothing to do with the developers of beamng and as with DNE's it thus has no vehicles or anything beamng related at present. So it's a small 512x512m terrain. I made the heightmap in L3DT (I was going to use it for RoR) but I thought I'd try importing it into cryengine, since tbh I hate the lack of control of cryengine's terrain generator. (Or I'm just missing something :L) Anyways, I have added a few basic textures to it, which I'm not happy with and will probably change. I also hope to use a custom road texture as I'm not happy with that either. Oh, and I used L3DT's bulldozer tool to carve a path for the road, then I used cryengine's road tool to add the actual road, and align the terrain to it slightly. My plan of action: -Redo the terrain textures. -Redo the road texture. -Redo the vegetation. -Create custom objects and import them using cryblend. -Crash barriers, retaining walls, signs, buildings etc. So yeah :/ Any advice on getting a nice terrain texture would be appreciated
Re: Little Island If you can send me the map ... I can change the textures and all that , to better If you wish !
Re: Little Island I love those curvy roads, perfect for drifting ! looking forward to your progress on this map
Re: Little Island Thanks for the comments guys Gearsecond, that is a nice offer but I think I will decline. I need to learn how to get things right myself. So I will probably watch a few more tutorials, and fiddle around a lot more. I'll consider making my own textures but I'm not too confident about all this fancy material business. Is it possible to use the texture generated by L3DT? I can export it to be any resolution but I'm unsure how things would work when it arrived in Cryengine. Anyways, I'll just keep fiddling
Re: Little Island I respect It's honorable ! ok , in the Cryengine you can use a Hight Resolution Textures i put you here the process if you wish , or better i put here a really good video about changing textures of the ground , roads , barrels . What you say ? You also can download a hight resolution texture pack from cryengine 3 (but to do that i think you need a crysis 2) I'm not sure ...
Re: Little Island Yeah link me any good tutorial's. I think part of the problem is a lack of default textures/materials. I read somewhere that people who have more have crysis 2, so I think you are right
Re: Little Island Yes i think , that with crysis 2 you can get more textures ... But of course then you need to buy the game , hmmm for the moment have this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eo2p73f7p3Y http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRUPHkwx4mQ And if you are really really sure to make your own textures there you have : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehrKp22HzuA
Re: Little Island So I have been thinking a lot about what sort of terrain I want to create, and I don't see this one going much further. I have some exciting plans for a new terrain though, but give me a few days to get some progress done before I post anything. I hope it to be based on an Italian coastal town. So today I started moddeling the pavements, but I didn't get very far.
look very good for W.I.P. would be a gas station and some great dealer as well as a couple of workshops sure then gets used ...
Looks great donoteat, I also love the little details you are putting into the map.. Let's just hope there's a smooth transition into the final product..
First stupid role-playing building for all you stupid school bus people. Ugh. View attachment 256 Complete with parking lot to sell drugs out of and to beat up that loser kid who's always talking about school buses and who went to prom with his mom. View attachment 257
Loving the school name DNE, nothing wrong with that at all... But seriously, fantastic buildings there
I can ask whether the resources that are making the map are those that come with the CryEngine or created / added from outside? I created some maps with the cry engine and have not seen certain textures that you have used on your map. greetings and thanks
