Started top end work by removing the radiator and draining the cooling system. Additionally, the AFM, hood, and charcoal canister were removed.
I replaced the headlights of my 1998 MX-5 (it's a few months older than me) How the best side looked when I started: I had to take the bumper off: This was a bit of a pain in the ass because the car has many plastic panels on the inside. Some things were also not fastened with the normal fasteners. A PO got in an accident with the front right and I think they took the bumper off and repainted it once. After I broke a bolt and drilled it out I swapped over the bulbs, one was dead so I need to get a new one. I got some help from the dogs: Tommy tried laying next to/ top of me me but that was somewhat inconvenient because he is a decently sized unit nowadays (48kgs) And then I reassembled it: Not cheap but happy with the result
It got keyed. IN AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PARKING LOT. (we were picking up my cousin) It's right above the passenger door handle. Gaaaaaahhh it's so painful to look at. Then again, it is a well-used (although not too high mileage at around 67k miles) 2009 Chrysler T+C LX. The only time it ever got keyed before that was back in June or July 2009 when we first bought the car at the dealership (by accident). I swear, people should be scanned for sharp objects before entering a dealership, especially a new-car one.
Finally got the engine oil cooler replaced on Günter (my 318ci). It was a massive hassle as dad managed to drop the Torx bit while we were trying to get it off, So it took longer than we wanted.
Today I finally had some time for my 1961 Opel project car again. I installed the radiator, intake and exhauts manifold, exhaust, fuel lines, carburettor and got the ignition working. First start since 2015 and while the engine did fire up surprisingly quick, the float on the carb got stuck so there was gas spewing everywhere and it was pure luck that the whole car didn't catch on fire! Well looks like the carb needs a tune up after sitting five years...
Got an Oil light today while refilling i looked at the oilcap and noticed something that looked like someone vomited in my engine after researching it its either from driving short distances or its a broken Head gasket. Hopefully its the Former because i dont want to replace the headgasket its not expensive to do (having a car that sells well helps i guess) but alot of work
I finally found some LED bulbs that work with BMW bulb checks(for my mom's X5). Much brighter, no hyper flash and the filaments won't fall apart because there are no filaments. Now I just need to replace the center taillights because the factory ones are prone to leaking and frying themselves, I have a set of those coming from fleabay too. Tires came in today along with the license plate mount for my bumper. The last of my suspension parts come in Monday. At that point I'll be ready to put everything together. Still waiting on my skidplates for the chassis, but those can go on anytime. My childhood dream is finally coming true.
Put my Golf up for sale and now im looking into if i should drive my octavia all year or if i should get another winter car. The winter car option would be a A6 2.5 TDI. The question with winter tires on the octavia is wether i should get 17 inch wheels or tires for 1100 euros or if i should get 19 inch for 1700 the 19 inch would look way better but saving 600 euros would be nice too
Treated myself a bit today and bought a exhaust for my Skoda cant wait for when its fitted but getting a appointment in a car repair shop is kinda hard currently
