The Boreal Forest grows all around the northern hemisphere of our planet, and in Canada, it sit atop vast oil and gas reserves. To access these resources, oil and gas companies carve their own roads through the bush, which leaves the rest of us with thousands of kilometers of off-road greatness to wreck our trucks. The off-roading found in the region has been voted as some of the best in the world, and is the perfect environment to base a map on, for BeamNG.Drive Trunk Road is my first map, and is the pilot for a series I have planned entitled Boreal. The Boreal series will showcase my interpretation of the roads found in the Alberta back country. I have several campaigns planned for the series, but for now there are only a few short scenarios to play. Trunk Road is a test of concept, and if it is well recieved, I will continue to develop it. All feedback on this, good or bad, will be greatly appreciated. Trunk Road is all off-road, consisting of roughly 45km of road: 65% dirt, 35% mud. Trunk Road is modeled on the Forestry Trunk Road, which runs the length of Alberta, along the foothills. It is a mostly gravel super highway built for big trucks and heavy equipment, and has countless thousands of trails and paths branching off, leading to our favorite resource. Trunk Road attempts to capture the beauty and excitement found along this glorious dirt highway. The Plan: If you like my work, then I will continue to develop this. The plan is to create a kind of "Oil field Simulator,: similar to Farming Simulator, and Euro Truck simulator, only working the oil patch. It's an ambitious project, and will require funding, so your feedback is very important. If you like Trunk Road, and the concept I'm pitching, then do me a favor and talk about it. Any amount of buzz surrounding this mod will surely help me find investors. About Me: I started this project in early 2018, but then I had a motorcycle accident, lost my left arm, broke my neck, and mangled my right leg. After learning how to walk again, and adapting to life with one arm, I decided to sit down and get back on this mod. The accident has rendered me unable to be a mechanic, and automotive s is the only thing I know.. that, and racing. So as a last ditch attempt to feed myself, I am putting this together. I once again ask you for some help in generating buzz for this mod. The more you talk about it, the more likely I am to get investors, and then I can feed myself again! I do hope you enjoy Trunk Road, and I look forward to developing this all the way to Oil Field Simulator. Your Dropbox says 404 That file isn’t here any more. Though I'm not sure if I need to add the link to the adguard client exception list to allow connection to the untrusted website called dropbox
Ya, sorry.. I updated the file, but not the link.. my bad.. I'll post before I update.. I'll look into another host as well.. thnx I can't change the link in the OP, it thinks I'm posting spam.. Try this one: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4veehrlubafj56o/trunkroad.zip?dl=0
You will be able to attach files and do more once your account has more posts on it. Right now it's still marked as new, which makes it have limited permissions.
@SPRVLLN man, i gotta congratulate you, this map is beautiful. the challenges it offers are great and the views of the lake are stunning!
Very interesting map. Great terrain and environment. Really good job! Without locked differential no deal in dirt there. Note: some textures missing on roofs.
Hey, I'm glad you like it so far.. I updated the map: https://www.dropbox.com/s/15i3r40ryn5b0jn/trunkroad.zip?dl=0 -Replaced buildings at the Sawmill with something different -added Rocky Mountain Rally Stage 1 - only 2.4km -added a hillclimb and a trail -fixed Ranger Rally -fixed Report a Poacher -opened up more trails -removed a few floating trees -smoothed out a few bumps here and there I noticed that when I played from the upload, the textures worked in the editor.. I just pulled those buildings out, and changed the area. I'll keep cleaning it up, and trying different kind of scenarios out over the next couple of weeks. I'm also making good progress on the second map, so maybe two or three weeks for that.. Thank you I find making these landscapes very therapeutic, and I love off-roading.. so it seems to work I still have a lot to learn though.. I'm trying to get a campaign to work smoothly. I have 2 roughed out; Forest Ranger, and Oil Field worker. ... I'll come up with better titles.. Thanks for the feedback.. I think the oil field concept could work very well with Beamng, I'll push it as far as I can.
Update: My pants are on fire... I said in an earlier post that the next map would be ready in two to three weeks.. It's ready now, and is included in the updated file. I was holding off releasing it until I could clean up a few bumps, pull down floating trees, and do some scenarios, but circumstance has bumped up my schedule. The artery that was grafted in to try and save my arm collapsed last night, and I had a mild heart attack. Im in the hospital now, and wont be able to do much updating on the maps, so while I'm here I'll go through the files and thin out some of the bulk. Feel free to explore the second map in the Boreal series: Mestâskitew Mestâskitew is the Cree word for, "The forest burned," and Boreal - Mestâskitew is set late in the summer, during fire season. There is smoke in the air, and an eerie orange glow to constantly remind you of mestâskitew.. I hope you enjoy it, and I'll get back to work once I'm free. *Edit - it didn't upload... this would be so much easier if I could upload to the repo... try the link in the next post
This map is amazing dude! I'd pay money for this, and I love your idea. I can't wait to see more from the SPRVLLN!! Keep up the good work!
Link not found. Please upload on google drive or somewhere else because every link just doesnt work. as from the 2 screenies i saw, the map is quite beatiful.
Yeah, you need to add the map to a google drive or something man. The link you provide keeps expiring or something, giving us a 404 Error.
Sorry everyone, I'm having all kinds of difficulties .. its frustrating, but bare with me and this will all come together.. I've activated my Google drive as advised, hopefully this works better.. Here's both maps, finally.. I'll be working on Mestâskitew more than trunkroad; it's my favorite of the two. It's faster, has big jumps, and a lot of trails. I also think the general atmosphere is nicer.. Let me know what you think of the new map. I'm going to start focusing on scripting and object creation next, and hopefully I'll be able to drop a demo campaign soon. I'll also include more scenarios to try out ideas.. I came up with an idea for a "trial campaign," where the player will be required to drive around Boreal collecting Medicine and herbs for a shaman.. It'll be a short campaign, I'm just writing it to get experience doing campaigns. Anyhoo, the file has uploaded, so here's the link finally. Sorry for my delayed response.. Enjoy! https://drive.google.com/open?id=1qpdp1Oeo1QDsHCR9ugPBCT6HYpXE-pcg
I hope everyone is doing well during all this. I've been trying to learn LUA for the past 2 weeks now, had a bit of a learning curve, but I think I have a decent handle on it, and there's one new scenario added - scripted! Now that I have scripting handled, I'll start working on my first campaign, and I'm making progress on the third and final map; which is 8km² Get it here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1sLw078bXIg4tMEvSnV8tGVtE60ThWQ3M In this update: -removed foliage that was missing textures -added rock quarry -added a few new trails. Stay safe, stay healthy
