I think people who don't have a passion for fields like medical, teaching, law, engineering, math, etc, aren't intellectual, and don't like school should do trades/jobs, make art or music, or do something they love. I like pickles, but I don't think people should be forced to buy them. Sadly though, 53% of the people on this debate site think college should be mandatory. Link for extreme stupidty: https://www.debate.org/opinions/should-college-be-mandatory-and-free-for-all Edit: Do not take this as fact. It's opinions.
Just curious, did you 2 click on that stupid debate.org link yet? The crap in that link is so bad. It makes Justin Bieber look awesome.
Does anyone have eye bleach, I need eye bleach. Too many middle schoolers reciting pro-college propaganda.
The 47% saying college should not be mandatory was decent, but the 53% sucked big time. It might give you more cancer then Roundup. By the way Harkin Labs Gaming, some people were saying on there that people who don't go to college will do drugs and other crimes, or something like that. My dad didn't go to college and he's not a criminal. He's an ironworker and he makes more money then my uncle who has a bachelors and a masters. The 53% on that site only applies to doctors, lawyers, engineers, professors, accountants, scientists, psychologists, and other people who actually need college for their careers. Granted, it's opinions, but the pro-college propaganda on there (in my opinion) was so dogmatic and biased that it makes your average political propaganda look unbiased and neutral. People with degrees on average (from I've heard) make more then people without degrees, but there are exceptions I'm sure. By the way, There is a video by a Youtuber called THE EUROPEAN about 8 reasons why you should go to college. @appesh1 and @Harkin Labs Gaming. I would love to hear your thoughts on this. EDIT: I felt like removing the video. You can access the video from the original post appesh1 quoted.
My spring break has been extended to three weeks due to Coronavirus, and now there's a genuine possibility that my school could shut down for the rest of the semester. Jesus, this situation is derailing. I read some of the replies on the "yes" side, and what the f—?!
The poll reminds me of this class assignment I had in middle school, where the teacher fed us a lot of information about the pros and cons of going/not going to college. The information was hand picked to make college look like Disneyworld compared to not going. We then had to vote as a class or something and write our final opinion on a piece of paper and put it on either side of a table chart. I stopped being interested in going to college when I was in 9th grade and honestly didn't even want to go to school at that point. I discovered trade schools and found that I could do my hobbies as a career. I'm very happy I chose the path that I have taken. I am getting certifications and have plenty of job opportunities where I could make a lot of money no matter where I go (you won't find a tech company in a small town, but there are mechanic shops everywhere). EDIT: About people that don't attend college doing criminal things, that is just to make people look down on others who realized the flaws in colleges. Personally, I don't do drugs, but I don't think differently of people who do as it is their choice. What I find amusing is that most of the drug addicts I have encountered actually go to college.
I know right, the yes side is dreadful. I think he makes some good points in the video. College does give you access to more jobs and people being millionaires or billionaires without college degrees might be special cases, but people being millionaires or billionaires in general could be special cases. About him being unbiased, I kinda disagree with that, because he admits in the comments that he has biases. Anyways, there are people without degrees who are unemployed, but I bet some of them thought they could be doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc without college. From I've seen. The unemployment of college grads is 1 to 2% and the unemployment for non college grads is between 3 and 6%. I respect your opinion on the video though. By the way, are any of your friends without degrees moderately successful and did they have justifiable reasons for not going to college? I don't like the idea of being forced to go to college and I want to avoid college if I can. I have 2 questions for you though. 1. Did you see THE EUROPEAN video? 2. Do you think college is right for some people?
I didn't make it past the part of the video where he said he is a lecturer at a university. Obviously the video is going to be biased. The points he brought up before he mentioned that he works for a college weren't even that good. He basically said that you make friends and get communication skills, but the same can be said about high schools or trade schools. I have a great friend group because of my tech school and high school. You can make connections in the automotive technician world by being a good worker and trying your hardest, and the people you work for help you succeed. From what I have experienced, colleges wouldn't give me anything more than an expensive piece of paper. It might work for some people, but not for me.
"Cool, I'm glad he managed to get successful without college. College sucks. By the way, the chick on your profile is a girl named Lily and she's awesome =D" Message written by Beavis and Butthead (that was a joke) Anyways, thanks for answering my questions @appesh1.
Intel is at gen 10. It's really OP... --- Post updated --- Microsoft is at Surface Duo It's really cool... I probably will buy one Also, am Ithe only one who realized the Surface Neo is technically a Windows phone?? BLODDY HELL A WINDOWS PHONE IN 2020?!!!
Cool, Beavis and Butthead do like chicks. They would probably enjoy Psych2Go chicks. By the way, speaking of Psych2Go. I heard them say "depression is vague" and that the "depression is a choice" statement was a harmful myth. Is that true?
Well, I have heard of people getting depressed from things like death, social media, and higher education.
No, depression is not a choice I don't think. I hope everyone is feeling mentally happy tonight including you @appesh1 =)
