Hello people, I noticed people talking about private mod/meshslap stuff on the community screenshots thread. What do you people think of this?

Private mods aren't such a big deal - the showboating and begging is pretty dumb though. Meshslaps - I mean, c'mon; nobody cares that you imported a mesh, slapped on some textures, and placed them over an unedited jbeam. Anything for a little attention though, right?

Private mods are fine for me, as long as their obtainable through something like Patreon. If they are limited to certain people it's a bit frustrating but i understand. Meshlaps are just dumb and to be shamed on.

Honestly, I really enjoy Nekkit's Lada car mod even if it's a meshslap.

Yeah, but actual effort went into that.

I don't really care about private mods, but I'm not a fan of meshslaps. It tarnishes the game a bit, I think, especially when it's that publicly displayed as it is in the Community Screenshots thread.

I don't care about private mod cause I have some but like meshslap they re not very nice looking forza dipsh*te model so it's a bit problematic
And instead of posting meshslab we should post actual good modded car

I'm fine with private mods. But meshlaps are plain stupid. Ripping the mesh and textures from another game is actually pirating, which is illegal. Importing mesh and modifying the jbeam, textures and UV mapping is fine with me.
    --- Post updated ---
Like the Viper mod has the model imported from Forza(I believe)but everything else is changed and updated for Beam.

I'm fine with it ! Hell why not ? Do we like freedom or being captivated in useless discussions about who owns what ?
Because the internet, ladies and gents, has changed a lot on what is there to hold on to for yourself to make profit of in the
future. The internet should be there in first place to gain knowledge in the same way as water should be a human basic right
worldwide. Now I don't want to get political here but I guess you will know what I mean. Those sites offering so called
'private mods' and 'meshslaps' seem to be legal sites because they are up for a long time and never been even under the
thread of being taken down for as far as I know. >> So any content you download from such a site (game mod sites) are
basically yours to do what you want with. That is until someone decides it to be different one day, which would be pretty
useless as people want to advance and not go back in time. Ok, no more lecturing, long story short : I don't mind them
and it's just the peoples own fault to show interest in mods that are too bad to be enjoyable. :)

I'm cool with both, the part which annoys me is people that purposely post said private mod with the intention to rub it in everyone's face that it's only theirs, or part of some group you can't access.
It's disappointing to see a mod of a car I'd really like to play with in-game and be told I'm not part of some group so I can't have it, though if you're gonna post it on the community screenshots, you're bound to get questions asking where you got it from, and that just fills the thread with "where did you get that" "no you can't have it" etc.

That's actually a good point you made there. It can be quite disappointing and frustrating when someone does that.

Personally I don't have a problem with people posting private meshslaps on Community Screenshots, but the "plez pm that i want it" posts can get a bit irritating.

I really find it annoying when people take a screenshot of it and “advertise” it to people to beg and ask for it. Especially the ones who straight up think it’s ok to PM it to people. It’s wrong and shouldn’t even be posted really. It shows that the community doesn’t even try. Mods like the Mustang and the FRS are well done to be considered a good mod in my book. Not a slap and release but rather slap and did work to the model and jbeam to where it actually looked good and handled good.

    This, definitely this.

    OT:
I'm not entirely against low quality or quickly made "meshslap" mods. For similar reasons that the comment before mine states (some can actually be made into decent mods)
But I do not approve of these private meshslap cults, where the ones doing the meshslapping expect everyone to not ask or comment about their (but most likely Turn10's) cars.
Especially when The only reason users make meshslaps and post screens of them is literally to get peoples attention. That's literally it.

The exact same reason you'd tease an unfinished mod, it's to make other users stop and look - to draw their attention to your content.
With the meshslaps the attention grabbing is worse, because not only are they often attractive real world cars, and therefore already very desirable, the users that make them are often very rude when asked about the 'authenticity' and are overly defensive over what is ultimately considered to be an awfully low quality mod.

Good point indeed, as for my personal case, still I'm going to tease my unfinished mod(s). :p
Because there clearly is a threshold between teasing and sharing, right ?

One annoying thing is when people complain about the overwhelming abundance of meshslaps in Community Screenshots, some of the people posting them go "yeah well you're just salty 'cause you can't have it."

Like no, no one wants your Bolide wearing a Lamborghini costume.

This game gives an opportunity to play with cars you like, for example even on my privates i take time to jbeam, do gauges, weight increase or reduction, model stuff, etc. to make driving experience as close as i can do. I dont release most of my mods here because because they are simply not the best out there.

As I said a few weeks ago, there is no problem in showing pictures of the content you like. Other cannot and shouldn't really choose over how you like to play the game.

Although, bragging about it and saying people they cannot have it because pRiVaT MoD is childish and obnoxious. You rather not post them at all, if you don't want people asking about it.
