Adaptive headlights can be found on a fair number of affordable cars. IMO at least the top trims should have them.

 

I think it should have safety systems like assisted parking and automatic braking.

It’s probably super hard to implement though.

It is also the only way to make them meet fuel consumption and emission standards. There is also increasing customer demand for them.

It is increasingly hard to sell a low torque "I have no power below 4000 rpm" NA engine that casually drinks 8.5 liters of fuel even when driven calmly. Meanwhile a lot of turbo engines with nominally less power feel much more powerful because you dont have to rev them like mad to get some power. They also consume notable less fuel when driving economically.

Most of regular driving requires only a small fraction of an engine output power. A large NA engine under such conditions is like having a truck engine in a covet. You carry arround a lot of friction and mass for the rare occurence when you actually need it.

A downsized turbo charged engine meanwhile can minimize losses at low load, greatly helping fuel economy. Yet, when you need power output the turbo kicks in and pushes power well above what a engine this size would be expected to deliver.

Those engines increasingly fall out of favour as fuel economy is increasingly tested under more realistic conditions.It is very very hard to further reduce fuel consumption on a NA engine in any significant way. Low torque and the resulting need for high RPM further ruin it. For good fuel economy you want to keep the engine at a high load low RPM operating point. This is much easier with a turbo because it doesnt turn your car into a 30 HP Pigeon when at economic RPMs.


I am really looking forward to both the electric and the I3 version.

 

What about trim names ? Lots of french cars have names like Style, Like, Exclusive etc.
For example the Peugeot 208's entry level trim is called "Access" while it's top trim is named "GT-Line".
It would be a nice little detail to add to this car imo.

 

My old van, 2012 Ford Transit had this, It wouldn't be too far out for them both to have it.

 

great idea, most car manufacturers are using named trims (although most of them are quite simple and in an obvious order)

the workaround to not confuse casual users who aren't super in to cars is the little vehicle description. like the 200bx and hopper have, which explain the trim levels quite well.

 

Here's an idea for a feature: Some modern Peugeots, like the 208, 308, 2008 and 3008, have an 'ECO' mode which allows the engine to turn off when you come to a stop. All you have to do to turn the engine back on again is press the clutch. Heck, the 3-cylinder models are so economic that this makes only a small difference to the MPGs lol.

 

That is a very common feature in modern cars (which while I hate it, its very economical). Would be nice to have that feature!

I don't know if the staying at home thing over the Coronavirus is making the wait for this car more bearable or if it's making the wait even worse, that's how i feel...

Still the devs have lives to live and I hope they're all safe! I do wonder if they previewed the car a little early though...all the hype better be worth it (it probably will be!)

Yeah. I was hoping the update would be released tomorrow or next week but it seems unlikely.

 

We'll see, there might be a bonus thingy or 2 for all we know.

 

I'm imagining we're going to get a decent chunk of content with this incoming update. D-Series stuff, H-Series stuff, the Vivace, and who knows what else!
