In real racing cars, there is a distinct whine when moving (like if you were in reverse) that gets loud and more high pitched as you move faster. So could there be a special sound for race-spec transmissions in the game to have that whine? It's just the reverse whine but constantly getting higher pitched and louder.
there is some noise but its not alot, it should sound more louder like this: (simply: they do just not to the extent i think is real) EDIT: it's sounds more relative to the car's RPM's, not the car's speed so it sounds just like a supercharger/turbo
i know it does but it doesnt increase relative to the speed, sound like a turbo/supercharger and doesnt go as loud
Are you talking about straight cut gears or transmission rattle? Sequential transmission rattle is already in game, with manual transmission rattle to come later according to the audio showcase video they did for 0.16. Straight cut gears produce the sound that you hear when you put the car in reverse, as reverse gears in street cars are straight cut. Many racing transmissions use straight cut gears, here is an article which talks about their pros and cons. The noise gets louder with RPM since it's a transmission gear. I know TDK has a couple of sound improvements planned, including this statement which is related to straight cut racing gears. There already is a straight cut gear sound in Beam for reverse gears on street cars.
my bad, it does get louder with RPM, the video made it seem like it was speed relative (which it kinda is) and i mean the whine since straight cus gears are loud (like my 2008 wheel)
The whine is only from straight cut gears. There could be transmission straight cut gears, and differential straight cut gears. The one in the BMW video is a differential with straight cut gears, as it gets louder the faster it goes (although technically speaking it COULD be the transmission). I always thought they would make a great optional in the game, at least for noise. In real life straight cut gears have functionality of reliability and a lighter gearbox tho. Something not very well simulated into the game.
